Hi, My Cruise Control/Speed Control has stopped working. When functioning properly, you push the "On" button on the steering wheel and a small green cruise control icon lights up in the instrument panel. When i press the "on" button, no icon lights up and the cruise does not work? What path should I follow to diagnose the problem?

Don't use it until it is fixed, possibly a wiring error on the steering wheel.

My horn isn't working on a Chevy equinox but it's a new horn. What could be wrong with it..and my cruise control don't qork. Is it my steering wheel?

Was Cruise Control working before the New Horn was installed? The power supply to the Horn, (input to ground wire) is connected to the Cruise Control Module (CCM). This CCM is wired to the Relay Switch Box located in the Engine Bay. The Relay Box cover will have a Chart indicating what function each Relay coresponds to. Your local autoparts store (AutoZone) can test the Relay Switch, and you'll know (if any Relay) need to be replaced.

The CCM is also wired to the Steering Wheel, but first passes through the Clock Spring Coil, located just behind the Steering Wheel. The Clock Spring allowes for the Function Buttons on the Steering Wheel to have power while Steering Wheel spins.

The Clock Spring can malfunction or break, its rare, but this will cut power to the Function Buttons on Steering Wheel. If ALL the buttons on Steering Wheel dont work, then the Clock Spring is the Culprit. The Coil may need to be replaced.

The Cruise Control Module itself may have failed and also would cause a few or all Steering Wheel Functions to quit working.

But first check the Relay Switch Box and examine the Harness Cables connecting (Steering Wheel--to--CCM--to--Relay Switch Box--to--Battery Supply).

Also if Cruise Control was working before the new Horn was installed and now not working, then most likely the Problem is a bad wire connection somewhere and/or is a faulty Relay.

Cruise control stopped working

You cant upgrade to HID lights on your car without the proper wiring right? Same with anything electrical in a vehicle if your vehicle didn't have all these extra buttons then your controlling unit for these devices are not compatible and not gonna work. Different units/different functions. You need to have the proper wiring harness for that wheel and the brain that operated all those buttons. Your airbag isn't recognized that's why you have the light on!!!

How to use cruies controw on a 1997 isuzu rodeo

First-on dashboard right hand side of steering wheel there are large (approx 1" sq) buttons-push to turn on-push again to turn off-for the rearwindow defroster, hazard flashing lights and....cruise control. Push cruise button to "on" and you'll see green lights on speedometer bezel light up. On end of wiper control stick on rightside of steering wheel-you'll find a pushbutton. Get car to speed you want-then push this button in. To turn off cruise control completely-push first button you pushed on dashboard.

How to use cruise control

Here are the steps in using cruise control:

  1. Get on a road you will be traveling at the same speed for a long period of time, such as a freeway.
  2. Reach your desired speed. Choose a speed that allows you to move with the flow of traffic and not go over or under the designated speed limit for that road.
  3. Locate the ON and SET buttons on your steering wheel. Press ON first and SET after. Your cruise control is now activated. Most vehicles must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour to set the cruise control.
  4. Press and hold the SET button if you wish to use cruise control at a higher speed. Hold until your desired speed is reached.
  5. Decrease speed by pressing the COAST button.
  6. Push the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control function. If you wish to return to the previous set speed, use the RES (resume) button. You must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour for this function to resume.
  7. Erase any previous speed by pressing the OFF button.

If set at a specific speed and you have to slow down by hitting the brakes, The brakes turn off the cruise control. Pressing resume automatically turns the cruise control back on and accelerates to the previous speed setting. You can also use it to accelerate and by releasing it the new speed will be set.

Why cruise control won't work on 2003 ford explorer

If you hit "On", cruise control is on. It's just not set to the speed.

To properly set the cruise control, do the following procedure:

  1. Select the "On" button on the left side of the steering wheel
  2. On the right side of the steering wheel, there is a "+" along with "Set", press that button after you have accelerated to the speed you desire to maintain.
  3. Use the "+ and -" to speed up or slow down your vehicle.
  4. To temporarly disable the cruise control, simply press the brake pedal.
  5. To resume the previously desired speed, press the top button "Resume"
