Yes. if you make sure your installation is perfect and complete, but the system still does not work properly, there must be something not right with your system. however, if you're ready to do the installation again to remove all the existing printer software on your system, it is more effective for the early steps of recovery. and do a virus scan on your system before installing it. make sure you use anti-virus that is really effective and make sure that your systems are free of virus activity is problematic because the system would interfere with computer operation.

First step is to check if you are able to make copy from Printer, If yes then the printer is working fine.
It could be a corrupted driver issue, you can re-download the drivers and install from the given link below.

Choose the MAC Operating system from the list to download ( MAC OS X is for newer models )

I already tried that. HP does not have the drivers for the Officejet 1660. They come with Os x. Problem is Os X doesn't have the scanner driver.
