I think what you're saying is The Pilot Light is on, but the stove will not come on using the Thermostat or the Manual Switch on the stove.

If that is the case, first check the Control Knob of the stove's Control Valve. Is it in the ON position or the Pilot position. If it's in the Pilot position, turn it to ON. If that's not the case, check the wiring from the the thermostat where it connects to the Control Valve terminals to make sure it isn't loose. One wire should go top the TP terminal and the other to the TPH terminal. Also, check the position of the Manual ON/OFF Switch, it should be in the Remote or Neutral (middle) Middle Position. If some cases, it has to be in the OFF position for the Thermostat to work.

If all of the above checks out OK, check the pilot flame to make sure the flame is touching the Thermopile. If the flame is curling up and away from the Thermopile, the pilot needs cleaning.
And last but, not least, if all else fails to solve the problem, the Thermopile needs to be replaced. As, it's not generating enough millivolts of electricity to open the control valve and allow gas to the burner(s).

Hope this helps you troubleshoot the problem and make any necessary repairs.
Please be kind enough to rate my response to you. Thanks!

Stove pilot is on but oven wont light?

How do you know the pilot is on? Most likely if actually burning gas pilot, you have a bad oven thermostat. or perhaps valve. If your question is about the light switch itself, that is a different issue and somewhat confusing.

Check the pilot light sensor. Have seen this issue before. Sometimes after lighting need to hold it in longer. If it doesn't detect the lit pilot wise it will sit in safety shut down mode

There's a little screw that adjusts the pilot light. It is usually on the block with all the other valves. Follow the pilot lite supply line to where the screw probably is located.

I have a Waterford gas log stove. The pilot light is on and working. The stove won't turn on either when it's called on by the thermostat or when I switch the stove to "on".

You have a bad thermostat is what sounds like when you turn it on yourself there is a electric valve that opens to make work and it is not getting the signal or you have something in the line feeding it.

Make sure the blower access panels are on firmly. There is a safety switch on most gas furnaces that will prevent operation in the event the blower access panel is not on or loosened. Also make sure a power switch (sometimes looks like a light switch) was not accidentally left "off". :-)

I hope you find this to be very helpful moving forward.
:-)

If the blower access panel is not the problem, let us know and we'll dig deeper. :-)

Pilot light goes out

The Tstat has a capillary that looks like a thermocouple but it isn't, its a bulb with liquid that expands and contracts based on temperature. A pilot can go out due to a high limit switch being week or getting to hot and that can be shaped like a thermostat capillary or can be simply a disc with a button if even there is a high limit on your stove. There likely isnt. So see the next suggestion.
I suggest lighting the pilot, turning on the main burners while watching the pilot. If the pilot shrinks in size, then check your gas pressures before and after turning it on and seeing if there is a wide variation. I would suggest the pilot is dirty or the pressure regulator is faulty.

GE STOVE MODEL JGBS15GE

Often times you will have problems with the gas thermostat and not necessarily with the safety valve. Once you have lit the pilot light, turn the oven knob to any temperature. The pilot light should get bigger in size of flame. If not, the thermostat that controls the oven must be replaced. If the pilot light does get bigger, but the stove does not ignite, it is the safety valve.

The pilot adjustment screw is located on the back side of the oven temperature thermostat. Lift the cook top to access it. Use a flat screwdriver to adjust... counter clockwise= bigger flame.
