It could be that the printhammer is not latched into place. push forward on the black lever to the right front of the printwheel until it latches into place. if the P/H is already latched into place, look into the machine with it turned off and unplugged and try to move the carrier by hand and look to see if there is some forien object in the machine. if this doesn't help, seek professional help or replace the machine.

If beep that does not stop after start up you may have bad key switch or the ribbon end sensor may be stuck . Check it out, and get back with any info nomatter how small , listen to it very closely when you turn it on you should hear the print assembly check for the home position, this may seem insignificant but my be the vital info that tips the scales you way, good luck, Bret

I have a Swintec 8016 that doesn't have a "print" key. How do I print stored files?

Hi Linda, Once upon a time, I worked on Swintec typewriters. When you speak of printing do you mean to an external printer or just allowing the thy writer to to type out of memory? What kind of printer, what type of external port. Did it ever work? With what printer? I,m not familiar with this particular typewriter , give me as much info as you can , I mean anything you can think of . The smallest detail can tip the scale. You stated there is no print key, that tells me there must be an alternative way to print. let me know what you find out. If you can take a picture of the plug ports on the back and the keyboard, in this case a picture is worth more than words! Good luck. Bret... Beeps

Check for debris inside T/W, put some WD40 on the silver shaft that the carrier rides on. If these fail check the wiring harness about 1" from carrier you may find broken wires there.

Try puting some light oil (WD40 works well) on the silver shaft that the carrier slides on, also check for debris it that area.

Brand new EM630

there is a set of graphics on the instruction book that indicate the packing pieces that are to be removed. there was one more item that at first look seemed part of the mechanism and was not clear on the graphic. spoke to tech support for brother who told me what to look for, and how to remove it (white double spire-looking thing). once i removed this piece, the print cartridge was released to the left side of the machine and it worked just fine.

Beeping

It most likely beeping because it cannot make its resetting movement. That is,it cannot "find-out" where its left margin is. There may be something hindering the actual movement of the print carrier. Check inside the typewriter by lifting up the top cover and move the print unit by hand. It should be able to move from the left to right-hand side of the typewriter unhindered. The shaft that the print unit moves on should be clean and it may have gathered dust etc,so give it a wipe with a clean cloth (lint free) with a small drop of light oil on it.. Replace the top cover and switch on the machine
