My 12 V 400 watt inverter worked fine until recently, when in would no longer power anything. I checked the AC output voltage and am gettting only 25 volts, rather than the 110-120 volt range. Any suggestions as to what components could be in need of replacement to correct this? Thanks, Paul

My guess would be the power oscillator mosfets. Was the 25V AC or DC? If there is no AC and the output is DC then the chances are very good that one of the switching mosfets that produce the AC is shot. These are usually set up in an H-Bridge configuration and both the neutral and hot leads alternately get switched between high voltage DC and ground, producing a modified sine wave output. For the cost of one of these inverters, it might be cheaper to just buy a new one and recycle the old.

SOURCE: Overloaded my inverter -now only works when hooked to car battery

It sounds like the fuse that protects you cigarette lighter is blown.

After you have replaced the fuse, check the voltage again. 0.015vdc would not have powered anything that in manufactured to operate on 12vdc.

When powering anything over about 250W, I would suggest connecting directly to the battery to avoid overloading the lighter circuit.

SOURCE: My 400 watt inverter will not charge my laptop the

Your laptop PS has big condensers in the input. Even supplied by mains through 6A quick fuse or automatic breaker it will drop first time, but may hold the second. Your inverter may be has fast fuse 2 - 5 A. If not so fast it may carry the initial load.

Hint: If you are not "both left handed" you can connect  20 - 200 Ohm (2 - 10 W) resistor in series to your Laptop Power Supply. After the initial start of the inverter you can shorten the resistor by a 3 - 5 A switch.

SOURCE: (Vector 400 Watt sst Power inverter) When I plug

I am assuming that the inverter works with other devices. This being the case, i am thinking that the television start up current is drawing too much power too quick for the inverter to handle and this is what is shutting down the inverter.

Hello, I hear you. Was the reason to supply 240 volts? When you try the inverters separately, do you get 120Volts output? Let us look at the units working individually first and go from there.

Honda eu3000is generator surges

Inverter Generator Benefits
  • The EU3000 series generators are inverter generators. The generator features an alternator, which produced high-voltage, multi-phase AC power. This power is converted to DC power and then converted back to AC. This process is controlled by a microprocessor and is necessary to provide stable, consistent power capable of running equipment sensitive to power surges. This type of generator provides higher fuel efficiency and lower operational noise ratings in a lighter model than home and work generators produced by Honda.

EU3000i Handi Specifications
  • The Honda EU3000i Handi is a 3,000-watt inverter generator that features wheels, folding handle and a recessed convenience light. The engine is a Honda GX160, which features a 163-cc displacement. The AC output is 120 volts, with an average rating of 2,600 watts and a maximum production of 3,000 watts. There are three receptacles to include a 20A, 125-volt duplex and a 30A, 125-volt locking plug. The DC output is 12 volts and 100 watts. The EU3000i can hold 1.56 gallons of unleaded fuel, which will provide consumers with 3.6 hours of run time at 25 percent load for 7.7 hours.

Trace SW 5548 output ac voltage is 164 volts, under a medium to heavy load it will lower to a 142 or 144 volt output.

Is your 12 volt source able to supply 1500 watts of power? You can't draw more watts out than you put in. What is your 12volt source? A standard automotive alternator cannot make close to 1500 watts.

Hello,

I will accept the second option which is getting transformer.

Go ahead and get a transformer in order to step up the voltage. This is better than hooking up the 120V AC to the master inverter.

In summary, get a transformer to step up the voltage.

I hope this is clear now....

Good luck.

M/n cpi 1575 I've had my inverter installed in my

it indicates an overload situation
not enough information provided as to voltage supplied to the inverter and the voltage of the grinder
examples are for 110 volts ac with a current draw of 4.2 amps the wattage is 462 watts or for 240 v ac with 4.2 amps the wattage is 1008 watts assuming that it is 240 volts and the inverter has a maximum ate of 1000 watts then it is overloaded and circuit protection is cutting in
check the wattage of the inverter and the wattage of the ac units you use and if there is not a 25% difference in favour of the inverter then it is an overload situation

Why would my new 1500 watt inverter readout show overload 13.8 volts entering

It would show overload if you're drawing more power than it can supply. 1500 Watts is a very high output for an inverter but that is the maximum it's capable of. As with any electrical supply you should not draw the maximum power it's capable of as this can cause it to burn out. Around 1200 would be the max you should draw continuously. You need to check the power requirements of whatever you're running on it. Also you need to check that it's capable of taking 13.8 volts. If 12 volts is the recommended input, putting in 13.8 will increase the voltage output which could damage appliances being run on it.

Xantrex Inverter/Charger has no AC output

HI

Checking AC Output
1. After the battery voltage and connections have been checked, disconnect the inverter.s AC output wires from
the power distribution system and connect a light to the AC output of the inverter/charger.
2. Disconnect the remote panel to eliminate it as a possible problem.
3. Turn the inverter ON using the power switch on the front panel of the inverter. The 100-watt light should
illuminate. Measure the voltage at the AC output wires using the multimeter. The reading should be 114.126
VAC or approximately 230 VAC if the unit is an international model. If the light does not illuminate, there is
a problem with the inverter. Contact Xantrex technical support.

Output voltage unable to get above 90 V AC on battery tried on running car and only got 90 Volt AC also.

With the car voltage at 13.8V and you have less then a 400 Watt load the inverter is probably bad. The output voltage is not adjustable by the user.
Good Luck,

I just bought a RoadPro 2500 and i want to buy like a dorm fridge how many watts or volts size would work??

If you are referring to the RoadPro RPPI-250
  • 2000 Watts Continuous Power
  • 2500 Watts Power Output @ 10 Minutes
  • 5000 Watts Peak Power Output.
  • A small fridge will use about 500 -700 watts, with startup wattage at around 2000watts.
  • So, a dorm fridge will work fine.
  • the RoadPro converts DC to AC voltage, so a regular 120 volt dorm fridge will work.
