Mp3 player stopped working. It is only 2 1/2 months old. It will not charge and will not work at all. When it is plugged in to the charger cord it is usb connected but the battery icon does absolutely nothing. I registered it when I got it. It was a Mother's Day present. I even tried resetting it and nothing happened.

This player only plays sigmatel video files. You have toconvert the files to smv files. You can use the easy rip that came with the OPAL. I like using http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm its a free program and does a much better job.
Use a free program such as Riva FLV Encoder to convert the Real Video files to aVI format. Once they are in AVI format, the RCA Easy Rip software should recognize the video files, and you can use the Easy Rip software to convert/transfer them to your player.
The RCA Opal supports Audible audiobook downloads almost exclusively. You can transfer audiobooks that are in mp3 or wma format, but they will not play like regular audiobooks - they will play as one continuous file. I would use Windows Media Player to transfer the audiobooks to the player, but you can drag and drop using Windows Explorer also.
