Question about Compaq Presario PCCOM2232US Notebook
Most likely your touch pad driver is corrupted. You need to connect an external mouse for you to easily navigate again. Here are things to try to re-activate your touch pad:
1. Do a system restore to a date when your touch pad was still working. For Windows XP, system restore can be found in Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore.
2. Download the touch pad driver for re-installation which can be found in this link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=316675&prodSeriesId=316673&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1098#11318
or it can also be found in the installation disk of your laptop that initially came with it.
Hope this helps

Testimonial: "thanx for the solution was really helpful to me, now my laptop is back to its order.. "
you could try pressing the FN+F7 key once i believe this will enable or disable the touchpad
jusst have a look at the F7 key and see if it has a picture something like a small hand or finger pointing at it some laptops use the F9 key i believe
if this does not work
you could go to device manager
scroll down to find mouse/pointing devices
un install it then restart the laptop
hopefully when windows restarts it will find new hard ware
and install the touchpad correctly for you
