Question about Mintek MDP-1070

2 Answers

I insert the AC adaptor into the DC IN jack of the unit. I then plug in the adaptor to the house electrical socket. Then I turn the main power on the unit on. I put in a DVD and the unit shows that the DVD is loading. The problem is that the unit NEVER STOPS LOADING and I cannot get any farther along with the unit. It is used very little but it was working the last time I watched a movie. I also saw that you are recalling the batteries. Should I be sending my battery in for a replacement? I have only opened the unit up and let it run for a little over an hour in case there was any moisture built up. Otherwise, I have done nothing to correct the problem. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about this problem Thank you, Lynn Hess 541-637-0771

Fist try a different DVD - the DVD disk itself might be damaged.
Next try cleaning the laser lens with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol (dampened) and then dry the lens with the other end of the q-tip.

Anything beyond that would void the warranty.
I am assuming from what you have said here that the unit is almost new, so I will not suggest anything that would void your warranty at this time.

Try gently cleaning the 'eye' on the disc player very gently with a qtip and rubbing alcohol

this should get the player to start reading discs again

if not make sure you are using disc formats that are compatible with the player you are using (eg. DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, etc)

good luck hope this helps

PS dont know about battery issue you are discussing but i would not post my phone number on a public site again if i were you - anybody could be reading these questions

AC Power Adaptor LED won't stay on to power PC

First you you should test the AC power adaptor properly, then if it is in good conditions is important to test the electric circuit in the motherboard in order to find any trouble. There is a SMD fuse between de DC power jack and the rest of the circuit.

NEED INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOOKING UP WIRELESS HEADPHONES FOR VIZIO TV

From the manual:

1. Plug the stereo audio cable into the headphone jack of your audio
source (e.g., stereo, TV, CD player, DVD, etc.). If your audio source
has two RCA output jacks instead of a headphone jack, use the
supplied Y cable to connect your headphones to the two (red and
white) RCA jacks.
2. Connect the other end of the stereo audio cable to the AUDIO IN
socket at the back of the recharging cradle/transmitter.
3. Connect the AC/DC main power adapter to the DC IN power
supply socket at the back of the recharging cradle/transmitter. Then,
connect the adapter to an electrical outlet.
Important: This power unit is intended to be correctly oriented in a
vertical or floor mount position.

No power. no lights. I have checked the power cord and its like there is no power

Firstly check that there is power to the Ac adaptor, this can be done by seeing if the green power indicator light is on on the adaptor body.

If not, then you have a defective plug, blown 3 amp fuse or the adaptor is fried (not uncommon)
If you have a multimeter, you can set it to 20 volts DC and with the adaptor pligged into the mains, test the DC JACK end! by putting the red probe to the inner part of the jack and the black to the outer part, if no reading, then assume the adaptor is dead.

Best way to check is by testing with an adaptor (universal charger type) to see if that works.

Assuming the adaptor is putting out power, check the output with a multimeter as above and see if the voltage is at the correct level (think its 19 volts on that model). If it is, then move on to the DC jack connection on the netbook

Watch the power indicator on the adaptor, if it is not steady green (ie flashes on and off), ther power is not making a circuit in the alptop and is being "spat back", this can be anything from a blown circuit board in the power circuit, to something as simple as a motherboard main fuse.

If there is a staedy green light but no power at the netbook and the jack connection at the netbook is firm and not sloppy or loose, then you will need to have the netbook dismantled and the fuse checked ( this will also need to happen if the jack connection is loose.

Sometimes, removing the battery, pressing the power button on (with the adapator unplugged) for 30 seconds and repowering with the ac adaptor can reboot the system, but I'd be inclined to suspect the adaptor first

Turns off after few seconds with batery or with the power cord only. never turn on the monitor, just fans sound for 5 seconds and stop rotate and the start blue botton light remains on.

Check the battery is charged first and that power is getting to the laptop by the DC Jack. You can test this by setting a multimeter to 20V DC and touching one probe to the inner part of the DC jack and the other probe to the Outer (earth) of the DC jack (red to inner black to outer). I'm assuming the fuse in the plug of the adaptor is ok...

If there is power getting to the DC jack, check the connection to the DC jack socket on the motherboard, if it feels sloppy or loose, this is where the problem may be.

If the fit is tight and the AC adaptor is supplying power, you could have a ram issue. Romove each ram module in turn and try to see if the laptop boots then, if one stops it booting, it needs replaced.

Failing this, you could have a fault on the motherboard which will need technical investigation

My ibm think pad t40 is not switching on

Hi
Assume you are trying this on battery and mains?
1st thing is to check if the AC power adaptor is giving out any power, which you can do by obtaining a multimeter and setting it to 50 volts DC. Place the positive probe in the centre of the adaptor plug and the negative against the outside of the adaptor plug and see if you get a reading. this will confirm that there is power getting to the laptop

(NOTE: THIS IS TO BE TAKEN FROM THE DC END of the power adaptor NOT from where the kettle lead AC source enters the adaptor.. if in doubt, get someone who is competent with using a meter)

2nd, is to check that the power button is not sticking and that the small plastic pin between the laptop body and the screen ( I think these have one) is not stuck, preventing it booting

3rd, If you are getting power by AC to the laptop, check the condition of the DC jack socket, if it is loose, appears to spark whrn the jack is plugged in or crackles, this will need replacing

4th, If the above do not work, it is possible that the main fuse in the laptop has gone...specialist repairers job.

Plug in ac adaptor to Dell inspiron 600m and does

Sounds like you have a broken DC Power jack. This is where the small socket where you attach the AC adaptor breaks loose from the motherboard , resulting in the laptop not charging properly or at all . If you have to wiggle the power jack to get a connection then this is definately theproblem.

Most computer reapir shops can do this for about $100. Or if your handy with a soldering iron and dont mind disassembling the laptop , you can always buy a new DC jack for your make and model off ebay and try to solder it yourself!

My megadrive2 ac/dc adaptor keeps springing out the back and hence no power how do i fix this?

a few things to try. You can get another known working ac adaptor and see if that springs out of the back as well so you know at that point its not an AC Adapter problem if it does.

If the AC Adapters aren't staying in place then the DC Jack on the megadrive is faulty and it would be a matter of finding a DC Jack for the megadrive 2 or find a faulty megadrive 2 where the dc jack is good.

Then if you have soldering skills, you can take the good one off of the one machine and take the bad one off of the other megadrive 2 and replace it with good dc jack. Basicially unsoldering the good one and the bad one and soldering the good one onto your megadrive machine.

No power

1)If you have a friend or know someone who have basic knowledge with electronics better ask that person to check your charging adaptor ( AC to DC adaptor) In the adaptor itself it indicates the DC voltage output it produced(ex. 3V / 4.5V / 8.5V /12 V )

2) if you don't know someone having knowledge with electronics, check the Voltage specs. of your adaptor , voltage polarity and the Dc jack size. You can alternatively purchase adaptor having the same specs.,polarityand dc jack size in a cheaper price. It's also adviceable to carry with you ,your portable player upon purchasing new adaptor so you can actually see if you have problem with the adaptor itself or the player does.

cheers.

Help

sounds like you have an intermittent problem with your AC adaptor or dc input jack. Does the light on the AC adaptor light up when you plug it in? If it does then your dc input jack may be faulty. If the light on the ac adaptor does not light then replace the ac adaptor. Good Luck!

No power via batteries

The batteries are put in wrong, or there no good, or the dc jack in the back still has the plug in it for the ac adaptor. You see theres a small switch on the jack inside the unit that switches from the ac adaptor to the batteries, when the jack is iserted. Also if the plug is not pluged into the jack, then there could be a bad jack or a broken solder connection on the jack inside on the printed circiut board. good luck
