Question about Cameras

1 Answer

Can't turn the camera on to download pictures because the USB cable attachment is beside the batteries. You open the compartment which means there is no connection for the battery terminals. So how do you turn on the camera??

Not sure what model you have that is built like that, but try plugging it into USB anyway. USB does have a charge so maybe its designed to work off USB power?

If that doesn't work you may still be able to get your pictures off by removing the memory card and putting it in your computer or add-on USB card reader (if you have one, they're fairly inexpensive if not).

Otherwise please post you camera's model number and your version of windows and we can get you better instructions.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

When I try to download photos from my S2700 to my computer, via a USB, the computer does not recognise the camera and the charging light flashes rapidly when the cable is attached and camera turns its

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

How to trasfer pictures from camera D60 Nikon to my lap top

Using the Camera

* 1 Attach the USB cable to the camera. Open the small, rubber door on the side of the camera body and plug the corresponding end of the USB cable into the slot on the camera.

* 2 Plug the USB end of the cable into the computer. Make sure the cable is securely attached to both the camera and the computer.

* 3 Turn the camera on. This will open software to download your images. You will be able to move the images from the camera to the computer and choose whether to remove the images from the card.

* 4 Select the option to download or transfer images. This will depend on what type of operating system you are running and may vary if you are running third-party image processing software, such as software that came with your camera.

Using a Card Reader

* 1 Turn the camera off and remove the memory card carefully.
* 2 Insert the card securely into the card reader slot.
* 3 If necessary, turn on the card reader. This will open the software to remove images from the card and place them onto your computer.
* 4 Select the option to download or transfer your images.

How to connect nikon s2010 to the computer?

There's a cable that's got a USB connector on one end and a small connector that fits into a compartment that's right beside the battery cover. It's on a little hinge that allows the cover to swivel as you open it. You'll need the Nikon CD to upload the program onto your computer. Once you've got the program installed, you can access it by an icon on your desktop and prompt the program to search for cameras. It'll find your S210 and then download your pictures. good luck!

Since that you already used different computer still its not detecting the camera It means the problem is either On the USB cable itself or on the camera USB slot. Because windows XP vista or Windows 7 has a generic driver for all the camera it should detect all the camera thats been inserted on the CPU.

try to used different USB cable and make sure the USB cable is MODEL U-8 thats the right cable for your camera

Rollei X-8 sports can't download files via USB cable

It is not actually shutting down. It just goes to standby mode. You need to look on the computer and then check if it is going to the USB detection process. It may take a moment as it loads the appropriate drivers. Once you see the USB icon on the Windows tray, go to My Computer and then locate your camera.

there are a number of solutions you can try,

1.
  1. you will need to turn off the camera and hold the camera on the edges in a way that you wouild hold a pack of cards
  2. you will "smack", or "pack" on all sides besides the side that has the buttons. carefull to hold it steady and not too tight that you would squeeze the lens or LCD screen on the back.
  3. this will cause it to resync in.

2.
turn on the camera, wait for the message to appear, then open the battery compartment and take out the battery out while the camera was still on. put the battery back in, and turn the camera on

Camera will not work

Using the wrong cable can certainly damage a camera.

You don't say what "inoperable" means. I have sold and serviced many digital camera over the years. Dropping a camera will often result in damage to the lens assembly causing blurry/distorted pictures or the lens will not extend or close.

If the camera is completely dead or fails to boot then you probably used the wrong cable or connected it incorrectly and fried the internal electronics. This particular Gateway/Samsung camera can be fried if you connect or disconnect the USB cable while the camera is power on.

Sounds like you owe your friend a new camera.
