Question about Grundfos 505474 24-Hour Progammable Timer/Clock

1 Answer

I have a Seth Thomas 24 hours clock model number 0708 (708-003) The piece that holds the battery apparently has stopped working as I've tried a number of new batteries and none work. The batteries have been tested for strength and all are in half green or better. Does the mechinisum that holds the batteries eventually die? Bill Fisher/ 714-522-6434

Hi Bill

I have the same clock ~ it has a quarts movement
so the fact that the battery holder is bad should not
keep it from running = try connecting a AA battery
to the two wires (one at each end of the battery holder)
and SEE if it win't yet run ---- if so, solder the wires to
the battery and tape it in-place

What can be done to fix Seth Thomas wall wind clock losing 14 minutes every 24 hours?

I would get it cleaned and reoiled. The reason is that that the oil starts to harden and in turn makes it slow. Since I do not know if it has a pendulum. If it does you might need adjust that as well.

Hi lufberg,

I see you need help with your radio controlled clock.

Place your Seth Thomas atomic clock face-down on a table or desk and locate a series of buttons labeled "PST," "MST," "CST" and "EST" on the back of the clock. Press the appropriate button to set the time zone.

Turn your attention to the small lithium battery-powered digital clock display on the back of your clock. With the correct time zone set, the digital display should accurately reflect the current local time.

Locate the AA battery compartment on the back of your clock. Put two new AA batteries into your clock's battery compartment.

Set the "Mode" switch on the back of your Seth Thomas atomic clock to "Run." Wait for it to adjust to the correct time. The automatic time-adjustment process can take up to 45 minutes, but is usually completed much sooner.

I need help setting the alarm on my radio controlled digital clock.

1- Turn over your Seth Thomas digital clock. Use your finger to remove the cover to the unit's battery compartment. Insert two AA-size alkaline batteries into the battery compartment and replace the cover. Certain Seth Thomas digital clock units will also have an optional alternate power source in the form of a standard AC power cable that plugs into a wall outlet in your home.

  • 2 Place your Seth Thomas solar-powered digital clock in front of a light source, such as on a window sill or beneath a lamp. The black strip on the top of the unit is the solar sensor, so as long as light is shining down on that strip, your clock will be powered on and ready to use. The sensor stores energy throughout the day so that it can work at night with no direct light contact on the sensor.

  • 3 Press the time zone button that indicates your current time zone. These buttons are located on the back of the unit. For example, if you are in the eastern time zone select the "EST" button. Turn the unit back over. It will now be displaying the correct time on its digital screen.

  • 4 Use the "Alarm" switch (if applicable) to enable and disable the clock's alarm. Press the "Alarm" button, followed by the "Hour" and "Minute" buttons, to set the appropriate alarm time based on your needs. Use the "Alarm HI LO" switch to set the volume for the alarm.

  • 5 Press the "Weather" button to tune your Seth Thomas digital clock to its built-in local weather radio station (if applicable). Certain Seth Thomas clocks have this radio weather functionality built in, while others don't. If yours does, the aforementioned "Weather" button will be located on the front of the unit.

Seth thomas autoset wall clock not functioning. replaced both sets of batteries (AA and CR2032), still not working.

I wish I had a solution... I'm in the exact same situation. I put in new batteries, and all I get is a faint reading of gibberish from the LCD screen, and that's it. I've tried following the instructions, but I can't set the time in the LCD clock, since it's unreadable, and almost completely gone. Seththomas.com has a web page indicating that "they will be back with info", but no support or FAQ pages. Disappointing... I have three of these clocks, and they are all behaving the same way.

How do I set a seth thomas weather station from a 24 hour clock to a 12 hour clock?

Press and hold the mode button until the year starts flashing in the upper left. Tap the mode button 3 times. You will see "24hr" with the 24 flashing. Press the + or - button on the back. Press the mode button 4 more times (or just leave it alone for about 30 seconds and it will go back to the normal display).
