Ok, I just figured this out on a friend's machine. On the top right there are three little metal rods sticking up. Put the bobbin on the middle one (coming out of the hole) and push it to the right. That switches the machine to the bobbin filling mode instead of the sewing mode. Then, pull the metal rod in the back up and place your spool on it. Loop the string around that metal disk on the top left and then into the bobbin. Press the pedal and it should work. I figured this part out, but now I can't tell how to insert the bobbin for sewing. Any suggestions?

How do I turn off THE BOBBIN winder on a Bernette 65 sewing machine?

The bobbin spindle needs to be moved to the left in the slot to disengage the winding mechanism. (It may be easier to do this with the bobbin on the spindle. The bobbin and spindle should be moved to the right after putting the bobbin on for winding.)

The directions and pictures for winding the bobbin are on page 30-31 of the manual. The manual is available from Bernina on their support page for the out-of-print Bernette machine manuals: .http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Print-Manuals/bernette-manuals/Bernette-Sewing-Machines . The direct link to the Bernette 65 manual is here: http://www.bernina.com/getdoc/6d2754b8-af09-4edb-a6a6-7a4c57965b8d/bernette-55-65-80e-90e .

I hope this helps.

You can obtain the manual on line free at: http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/bernina/730.html?p=1
It may be useful in the future for other things once you get stitching. Enjoy.

Is the bobbin supposed to move on the Bernette Deco 600?

The bobbin will move only when the thread is being pulled. The problem with your machine is that the timing has missed aligned. It will need service. 99% of all sewing machine misalign due to continued use.

How to insert bobbin in a bernette 680 sewing machine?

Try going to this link and download the manual for either the Bernette 410 or 715 and look at the directions for threading and inserting the bobbin:
http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Print-Manuals/bernette-manuals/Bernette-Sewing-Machines

Bernina may not have a manual for your particular model, but these models may be close enough that you can still use the directions for your machine.

Why won't my Bernette 65 pick up the bobbin thread

Try changing the needle

Try rethreading the machine top and bobbin

Make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way In the bobbin case

It's possible that the machine needs to be checked for a timing problem

I bought an Elna Heirloom 2yrs ago on ebay and have never touched it due to many deaths in my family, well now I don't know how to use it I have a booklet with it but I have no idea how to use it

since you have a instruction booklet, that will show you how to thread the machine & should show how to insert the bobbin, the instruction booklet should also show the different parts of the machine.
I suggest changing the needle the manual should tell you about that
and since the machine has been sitting up for 2 years, it probably needs to be serviced
I also suggest that you read the manual all the way through to help you learn what all you can do with the machine.
you lift up the presser foot to put the fabric under & then place the presser foot down on the fabric where you want to start sewing
make sure to have thread tails on the top thread & bobbin of 3 to 6 inches & pull them behind the needle before you start sewing.

Am I supposed to oil my Bernette 200? The bobbin carriage seems to be "sticking" and making noises.

hi
all sewing machines need periodic cleaning and oiling as part of their routine maintenance, to remove fabric debris and dust.

i do not have a manual for this machine, so cannot give the cleaning and oiling details myself.
if you have an instruction manual for the machine, it should tell you exactly what to do.

My Bernette Deco 600 is not picking up the bobbin thread. I have cleaned the machine and retreaded many times. The sensor thinks there is no tread on the bobbin. What can I do to resolve this problem?

At the very worst you may need to retime the machine if you have already checked that the needle is in the correct way round and is a good one, I can attach timing instructions if you email me drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk
