Steven, it's either lack of memory or the trailing cable is faulty and flexing open circuit at a point as it crosses the carriage rails

he problem you are having is caused by a worm separation pad assembly. This assembly is what separates the paper into individual sheets. It takes about 30 minutes to disassemble the printer and replace the part. Most printer repair shops will do the repair for you but the cost may be a bit much. If you are interested in doing the repair yourself we do stock the part. We can provide the separation assembly and a service manual on CD that gives directions for replacing the parts plus other information about the printer. The part and guide runs $14.95 plus shipping.
