Your Selectric II (a wonderful machine) is in need of cleaning and adjustment. When I did this, I got $65.00 for the service ... that was years ago. I don't know anyone who does this work any longer though a search on Google may get you results for a shop in your area. There may be a FixYa.com advertiser who can help you. Look at the ads around this answer (that is what pays the bills, after all).

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

IBM Selectric II letter printed does not correspond to the letter typed

You could have a broken element (type ball). You could also have a broken or out of adjustment rotate or tilt tape. Those are the two wire bands that control the rotation and tilt of the element.

The alignment of a couple of letters (i.e., "m") on by IBM Selectric II is askew. How can this be fixed?

It may be as simple as replacing the element (ball). Remove it and look for broken ao badley worn teeth on the lower edge of the ball.

My ibm selectric ii type impression is messy and sometimes missing part of the letters. I have check for proper ribbon placement and cleaned the ball element, but the impressions are still dirty looking. ...

Left Rear chrome lever with ABCDE or - marks should be towards the typist and the red ball next to the typing ballo should be moved to a higher number. Messy printing is caused by paper not being held tight against platen(black roller)

Ibm selectric II typewriter prints a different letter than the one typed. the typing ball appears to be very sluggish.

By this time in thier life selectrics have become very gummed up which causes many many problems, you need a chemical cleaning and lubrication. It may be cheaper to buy an IBM Wheelwriter on EBAY.

IBM Selectric II Will type letters, but will

Several possible causes. Needs lubrication most commonly. Sometimes the velocity cable is hung up on the left side and under the carriage. remove the ribbon and shine a light down on the left side and look for a cable hung up on the pulley, make a hook with a paper clip and lift the cable up and past the pulley

Typing close to top of ribbon

I aqssume that the top of every third letter is missing. There is an adjusting screw under the L. ribbon spool howerer you need a very small spline wrench to a make. it.

Correcting IBM Selectric II Typewritter correcton ribbon won't engage

Selectric I and II type elements are identical (88 char) where Selectric III uses a different element (96 char). The 88 character element will have white lettering and the 96 character element will have yellow. Directly underneath the lift-up tab to remove the element will be a 3-digit number. That's the last 3 digits of the element's part number, which will be preceeded by 1167 for 88 character, or 1352 or 96 character. For example, if you have a '052" stamped on the element, and it's an 88 character style, the P/N will be 1167052.

The correcting mechanism is an intricate additional function of the backspace function. To test it/adjust it/or repair it requires the machine be hand-cycled using a hand cycle wheel which is screwed into the right hand side operational shaft. It's unlikely that an un-trained party would be successful repairing this..
