Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have had my 2400 heater for seven years, not a problem until last week. The monitor shut down showing E 13 & E 14. The fuel was low in the barrel so I filled it and we called the repair man who told us how to reset the heater. The fuel came in but it would not light so we had lots of fumes..since then the repair man has tried three times to fix it, checked and clean everything and replaced a filter and the fuel pan, it worked for 24 hours after he left now it is off again showing E13 & E 14...what are your suggestions?

Monitor MPI it flashes F 13 or 14 & smells, I had it cleaned 6 months ago

The codes are "E" Codes. an E13 is no fuel. E-14 means flame rod malfunction. Unplug the heater then reconnect, this will reset the heater. Try your red prime button. Could also be the fuel pump or your fuel source feed line isn't flowing fuel.

E-14 code mpi monitor 2400

It sounds like you have a fuel problem, check to see if there is some kind of blockage in the line or at the tank value.

WE HAD A POWER OUTAGE AND NOW MY MONITOR HEATER 2400 IT JUST HAS LINES GOING ACROSS IT WE CANT SET THE TEMPERATURE THEN WHEN IT FIRES UP IT LASTS LIKE 20 SECONDS THEN SHUTS DOWN, WHEN IT DOES THAT IT SHOWS...

Since you had a power outage, you possibly have a circuit board issue. Try unplugging the heater for a couple of minutes then plugging it back in. If that doesn't help then a new circuit board may be needed. There are 2 different circuit boards. One main circuit board and one for the display. I hate to inform you of this but this are both very expensive. The main board will cost somewhere around $400. I'm not sure of the cost of the display board. If you have someone replace them, have them do to one and see if it fixes it. If it doesn't, put the old one back and replace the other, that way you can narrow it down to 1 or the other. There is a place in Ashville, NC that will repair monitor circuit boards. http://www.mathiselectronics.com/product-services/Monitor-heater.html Go to this link and it will give you prices for the repairs. They guarantee their work for 3 years. If you contact them mention you heard about them from Niten's Heater Service. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

My monitor 2400 suddently goes into error 13, I shut the monitor off for a few minutes and then it starts again, it has gone into error for the paste 4 days about 2 tims per day can you give me some idea...

It could be a dirty fuel filter or the small strainer located inside of the heater that is restricting the fuel flow. The problem could also be with the flame rod being dirty or touching the burner ring.

We have a monitor 2400 kerosene heater, it will start up and after a few minutes at most it shuts down and starts beeping and many times has a message "error 13"

Next time you try to start the unit listen to the pump on the lower right side of the unit. Just before the E13 message if you hear a thumping noise, you have a fuel problem. If you don't hear a thumping and there is a flame you have a problem with the inside of the burner. I would say since it's a 2400 you have a fuel problem. Low fuel, no fuel, dirty filter or blocked flue pipe.

I have a Monitor 2400 oil heater. I would like a more detailed description of all the parts for this heater. Also I would like to find a listing of the possible error (e) codes that this heater may display...

I cleaned the fuel screen located on the unit and replaced the filter on the external fuel tank. The external filter can freeze if it accumulates enough water and the temp is cold enough, or it can just get full of debris. I also unplugged the 2400 for 30 min to let the factory preset settings come back. Filter(s) caused the e14 error, preset settings cured the e13 error caused by me fooling with the start stop function so much. Thanks for the help!
