There is a hand grip built into the bottom of the housing to help remove it. If it has not been removed on a regular basis to dump out heavy debris, it may be stuck. Use a screwdriver as a lever and pry it outward from the motor unit to remove it and inspect for damage. For easy re-installation, wet the seal on the motor outlet. It attaches by a simple bayonet mount. Remember the motor will not run unless the bag assembly is securely installed.

Remove dust bag

If you are using compatible bags, sometimes it can stick - what you can do if that's the problem is look at the 2 arrows one on each side of the slide in slot - go to the middle between these and there is a little plastic u-shape -put your fingernail, or flat screwdriver under that and lift ever so slightly, at the same time as you pull the bag gently, it should then release the bag. Hope this helps. WhatEVER you do don't get a different hoover! Miele are the best - unbeatable everlasting performance!!! Good luck!

My Riccar Upright leave lines of debris when I use it. Can you help?

Inspect the filter.Open the secondary filter on the base of the vacuum to ensure that dirt and debris have not collected on the filter, as this will limit motor performance. Remove the filter from the dust compartment and rinse with water to clean. Allow it to dry completely and return to the dust compartment.--------
Also check if dust bag is got over full and that is causing the problem.Open the dust compartment, take the old dust bag out of the bag holder and discard. Open the end of a new dust bag and attach to the dust bag holder. Close the dust compartment and tighten the dust cover. Also check properly that dust compartment is not got loose. Open cleaning attachment and check the hoses and nozzles on the frequently to ensure that they are free of dirt, obstruction or hair. Also inspect the brushes, if there is already dirt got stuck in the brushes and that is causing the problem.Clean the brushed.---------- This will help, to confirm where the problem is and to resolve the dirt /debris issue.----- Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a G4 and the plastic at bottom of bag is cracked

Hi There,

Well sort of. For the G4, the bottom boot is sold with the internal fill tube that inside of the outer bag, where the paper bag connects. These two parts are sold complete as an assembly already put together. You'll just need to take off the strap at the bottom of the boot that holds the outer bag onto the boot. This strap is sometimes difficult, and sometimes it's easier to just purchase a new strap and install it.

Here are direct links to the parts that you'll need on our website:

Kirby G4 Mini Em-Tor with Fill Tube Assembly. Kirby Part # 199493S

And here's the bag strap that you may just want to purchase so you can just cut the old one off:

Kirby Vacuum Bag Clamp. Kirby Part # 196599S

If you have any questions about how to change this part out, please feel free to open a new repair, or just use the comment field here on Fixya. If you found this repair helpful, please follow the Fixya way and leave feedback for the repair. This is really appreciated when someone answers your repair questions, and is what keeps repair professionals continue to post free answers rather then just the paid ones. Thanks again,

Electrolux vacuum turning off

hi take off canister cover remove bag now if you look inside canister you will/should see a gauze type filter at the opposite end of canister from where bag locks in ?? remove this gauze filter and for now just shake tap on floor to remve dust/debri etc /from it this gauze is the filter that when vac is working andfilling the dust bag ? the pressure of air only that blows bag up but allows only air to pass thro the microscopic holes in bag ? then has to expel via the gauze filter to exterior ? and any dust etc that is clever enough to seep through the bag ??? will not pass further due to gauze ? and so prevents this blowing back into room ok so far ?? if this gauze is blocked due to whatever ?? then pressure build up in canister will result in cover lifting? this is provided that the fault is not the actual cover securing latch is ok and not damaged ? hope this explains and helps ? best wishes from uk !

Kirby G4 Vacuum "BOOT"?

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The bottom part of the bag, which you referred to as a "Boot" is actually called a Kirby G4 Mini Em-Tor with Fill Tube Assembly. Kirby Part # 199493S. The part is only available to purchase with the fill tube assembly, this is the part that the disposable paper bag connects to inside the cloth outer bag.

Kirby has redesigned this fill tube, as the original design sometimes would cause the inner fill tube to crack. The Mini Em-Tor Fill Tube Assembly, part 199493S comes already assembled with the "boot" at the bottom, and the vacuum bag collar (the part the bag actually attaches to) at the top of it. You will need to remove the cloth outer bag from your old part, and put it onto the new "Boot". The cloth bag connects the "boot" with a special zip tie, which is Kirby Vacuum Bag Clamp. Kirby Part # 196599S. Where it is possible to remove the bag clamp without breaking it, I will warn you that this is no easy task. Spare yourself the aggravation of having to try and remove the clamp, and just cut the bag clamp with a knife or scissors.

You will also have to remove the top of the bag collar at the top of the cloth bag by releasing the fill tube from the inside of the cloth bag.

All of the parts are located on our website, www.govacuum.com. If you have any questions about the repair, you can get me on a live help, chat service located in the top right corner of our website. I'd be happy to walk you through this.

Thanks,

Chris Jones
