SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite A75-S226 Laptop gets warm and shuts down.

When you take it apart your probably going to find dirt on the heatsink next to where the cpu fan vent is.

Its not that its hard to take apart but its alot of screws that need to come out and you need to keep things in order.

First all the screws on the bottom need to come out, then take out the hard drive, dvd drive, any doors covering memory, wireless card etc.

Then the keyboard cover needs to come off and then that should expose the screws to take of the keyboard. The other end of the keyboard is help in by a ribbon connector that needs to be loosened and that will take the keyboard out. The any other screw that you see on the top cover need to come off. The 4 screws holding in the lcd need to come of and then if there are wires that are being ran to the wireless card, those need to come loose as well cause they are part of the lcd.

There maybe a few more conectors for the speakers and a ribbon cable for the mouse pad that need to come off.

After all of that you can get the top cover to come off and that will expose the motherboard. There maybe a few screws that need to come off from the motheboard.

Then at that point you can get the motheboard away from the bottom assembly and at this point you can unscrew the screws from the cpu heatsink and then clean off the heatsink.

SOURCE: Replaced display does not function; only backlight

You either need to insert the LCD ribbon cable deeper into its socket (try using a toothpick in the little pry holes provided), OR you may need to do a camera reset.

First please read the FAQ section of this webpage for more info:

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you clean or replace the battery connectors if necessary. This may be the cause why the battery light is on.

Once the battery connectors are all set please tighten the cables.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

The memory battery has failed. It should be replaced approximately every five years by a technician.

Will not work even after charging

May need a bit more context and history, but, in general:
  • If it's got a removable battery, get a new battery and try.
  • if it's got a removable battery and you got a new battery on eBay that was an incredible deal and had a really high mAh rating, go get another battery from a brick and mortar store. Lots of those batteries are fakes, or recycled dead ones that won't hold a charge.
  • If you're fairly sure the battery may be ok, then look at how it charges - charging cradle, charging plug, or what have you. Somewhere in there are electrical contacts to allow a voltage to be put across the battery and pull charge into it. Blow the contacts on the base and the headphones off with some canned compressed air. Look with a flashlight and magnifying glass to see if anything might be bent or broken. Sometimes an item sits in a charger snugly, with the bent electrical contact not touching.
  • if the contacts are dull, corroded, or tarnished, clean them. You can either get a piece of really fine sandpaper or steel wool and gently buff the surfaces bright (blow them off afterward), or use electrical contact cleaner. I'm a fan of DeOxit - (see, for instance Amazon com deoxit ) for cleaning audio contacts, but lots of options at auto parts stores and computer shops.
  • if there's an on/off switch, and/or volume wheel, gently work those back and forth half a dozen times. make sure the sound isn't just muted or turned all the way down. Lord knows I've done that enough times :-b
  • also make sure the problem is with the headphones - plug another set into the plug and make sure that there's any sound coming out.

    Good Luck!

When was the last time you changed the internal "watch" battery in the camera? that might need changed.

And a new lithium battery might be a good idea too. my camera stopped turning on this summer until I replaced both batteries.

Hope this helps!

I've had for ten years now. Last time I loaded

It's possible that the battery contacts have become corroded, or tarnished so that the batteries are not making contact with the battery case. DO NOT use steel wool to clean the contacts, as the steel wool shed little pieces into the battery case, and can cause a short circuit inside the radio. Use a brass brush to clean the battery contacts, then spray them with a product called DeOxit to prevent further tarnishing or corrosion. Good Luck,
Longshorts.

Battery charger not working

make and model would help, general help do you have voltage tester? if so look at charger and find voltage output, test contacts and if lower than listed charger has gone bad, also clean all contacts with pencil eraser to make sure they are clean on battery and gun, if charger is good and contacts clean either battery is bad test in another device or test voltage, if battery good the drill is bad

Electrical issues (2 or 3) with Mazda Tribute 2002

hello there, there is a way to check if the alternator works, just start the engine and run it at idle for a minute or so just to get the engine warmed up. while the engine is running, try to remove the positive terminal cable from the battery (note: no lights, radio, or any accessories operating). the alternator should be sufficiently providing power to the engine. if it dies down the charging might be weak. another way is purchase a digital multimeter and setting it to dc voltage testing. put the tester prongs on the correct terminal( positive to red positive and negative to black negative) test the voltage prior to starting. usually it shall read 12. 3 or a tad higher. remove the tester prongs from the battery terminal and start the engine. then place it back on. the reading shall read 14V plus without any load. sometimes it might read 15V w/c is usually over for certain cars. then turn on all accessories: headlights, aircondition/heater and etc. if the reading on the tester indicates 12.8V and above 13V your charging system is ok.(all this test is on engine idle)

For the battery, my experience is that 2 years of battery duty is quite good already. unfortunately, during these span of duty the battery might give a 12V reading but its strength is not enough to sustain the load. the voltage of the battery is the physical attribute so to speak and ampere is the power or strength of the battery.

for your accessories that died, I think something tripped when you jump started it. but the accessories are easily traceble. I think what's important is keeping the engine in tip top condition and won't let you down during hard times.

hope some of this helps you.

Wont turn on

I had the exact same problem. The battery contacts are mildly oxidized. The problem is made worse beacause the outer contact does not put much pressure on the side (+) furthest from the hinge.
SOLUTION: Go to Radio Shack and buy a Deoxit Power Booster Pen. Wipe some on the battery ends that touch the inner contacts and insert while still wet. Rotate the batteries slighly to help coat the contacts. Wipe some deoxit on the outer contacts and close the door while pulling gently away from the hinge so you will get a good "wipe" when you slide the door latched.

I hope this works as well for you as it did for me. Scott L.
