Question about Jenn-Air Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

The stove beeps and F1 appears on the display. Elements work and oven works. When we push cancel it still keeps beeping after a short pause.

I have no idea how to do this. Do I need to call in an electrician? Will I need parts? I live on a small island and parts are not obtainable here.

  • sherwood951 Mar 26, 2011

    Rick,

I'll try to take the control off and see if I can tell where the trouble is. I would appreciate a copy of the schematic. It would give me some confidence as far as puttting the thing together again.

I expect that your suggestion to replace both pieces is correct since we, here on Cortes Island, are quite far from any technician who could make a diagnosis.

So, I await the schematic and any other instructions that you can offer.

Rick, Thanks for all the help. We have decided to take the stove into an authorized repair person in Campbell River and see if they can fix it. I will let you know if they can fix it so that you will have that information for future reference So far, how much has this cost us?

F1 indicates either a defective touch pad or defective electronic control also known as a defective clock in some terminology it gives this error code for f1 and what to do Replace touch pad or membrane (this problem is usually the touch pad) Replace touch pad or clock assembly (also called the ERC) if you have any futher questions message me back if you are able to you can check both these pieces and not always are both pieces at fault it is usually either one or the other observe the component board on each and visually inspect for burns or cracks in both boards or tears in the ribbon cable if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick p.s I await your reply

ok so if you live on a small island to order the parts you could go to www.marcone.com under contact us there is a 1800 number as well as an international number as well if you are not electroniclly inclined or have any worries due to this repair does deal with electricity you would call an appliance repair technician not an electrician if you are unable to do the repair the repair is pretty basic shut off the breaker to turn off the power going to your machine then you would disasseble the control so that you eventually had both the control and the touch pad removed i just had a thought this might work out to be cheaper on your end if you call the technician because he has to test between the two parts if one or both are bad watch out some just do the oh yeah both are bad without testing and just in parts that would run you over 250 not counting there labor bill where abouts are you anyway i Might be able to locate a reliable technician in your area I await your reply Thanks Rick

or you can send me the model number and i can find your schematic and then you can order the parts and try to replace both pieces together after considering you are on an island if you were to bring a appliance tech out there to test the unit to see which piece is bad you just spent just as much as buying both pieces so you might as well say heck with the appliance guy send me the model number and il try to give you some instruction on how to replace both pieces in my book cheaper is always better as long as the quality doesn't drop I await your reply and to see if you want me to look up the schematic for your machine Thanks Rick

Oven is beeping and showing f1

Hello Charlie,

The F1 error code means that the computer thinks a button on the touchpad is stuck. Sometimes this can be resolved by making sure the touchpad connector fits tight into the control board. The F1 code can be cleared by pushing CANCEL/OFF. If it returns the touchpad needs to be replaced

F1 beeping

hello there:
Please read this carefully and follow the tips and this will help you find out what is exactly the problem ok
How to test many brands of Ranges that are flashing a F1 fault code: You have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad.
  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock as one part. * We have seen a few of the newer Maytag ranges with a F1 fault code and the problem was the oven temp sensor, check carefully the wires to and from the oven temp sensor!!

My oven keeps displaying the symbol "F1" and continuing to auto-clean

Try pressing the stop/cancel button, if this does not work unplug stove and wait five minutes and then plug back in, this should clear the display

Hello with the limited information and no make or model I can only give a generic response to this one. Most manufacturers F1 code indicates a bad control board (EOC) and or a bad touch-pad. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Mike
