Remove most viruses with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

At one or another, most of us encounter a virus. Most times it can be easily removed for free. All it takes is a little time and a free program called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. This program can be downloaded from &lt;http://www.malwarebytes.org/&gt;. <br /><br />If you have access to the internet on the infected computer, just download and install the program. If you cannot access the internet, don't worry. You can download the program on another computer to a flash drive or CD.<br />Install the program and save a shortcut to your desktop. Open the program and update it. Again, if you have no internet access you can still update the program following these simple steps.<br /><br />1. Install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on another computer.<br />2. Update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.<br />3. Navigate to the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware install folder.<br />4. Copy the rules.ref file to your flash drive. (if you can't find the file just use your operating system's search tool)<br />5. Replace the rules.ref file on the infected computer with the one on your flash drive.<br /><br />Now you need to start your computer in safe mode. Restart your computer and follow these steps:<br />1. Hit the F8 key repeatedly until a screen with several options appears.<br />2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the selection Safe Mode and hit enter.<br />3. Allow the computer to boot.<br />4. Log in if prompted.<br />5. Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from the shortcut you saved to your desktop earlier. <br />6. Select Perform full scan.<br />7. Make sure you select the C:\ drive and any other hard drives that may be infected.<br />8. Wait for the scan to finish (this may take a long time).<br />9. When the scan is complete, restart your computer.<br />10. Celebrate! You just successfully removed a virus!<br /><br />

The Best Free PC Security

Free PC Security: OS Microsoft Windows 2,000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7

These are the best free security programs that I have found that actually do get rid of mal-ware, spy-ware, viruses, and worms for free. If your security program is not protecting your system very well, or it is an older paid for version that is now out of date and will not update any longer unless you purchase the new version, then you might do well to download and install these very powerful and efficient security programs.

You should only have one anti-virus/anti-spy-ware program installed and running on your PC or a conflict can occur, besides the fact that there would be an un-necessary use of the system resources. If you remove your old security program be sure to remove it from the add and remove programs in the control panel (some security programs have to be disabled before they can be removed). Also mal-ware is not the same as viruses, spy-ware, or worms. Malwarebytes will not remove any viruses, spy-ware, or worms, and AVG will not remove any mal-ware either.

AVG-Free Edition will automatically update itself and run security scans, it can be set from the AVG control panel in tools, advanced settings, schedules. You should set up the schedule so that it will update and scan at a time when the PC is not in use (usually during the middle of the night).

Also be sure that the Microsoft auto-update is not scheduled to run at the same time that you scheduled AVG to update or run a scan, if it is then change the Microsoft auto-update settings to something that will not run at the same time that AVG runs, for example (evryday 9:00 a.m., every Sunday 9:00 a.m., etc.). You can change the Microsoft auto-update settings in control panel, auto-updates.

Malwarebytes is the best free anti mal-ware program that I have found, the free edition will not auto-update or auto-scan and these functions must be manually done, but that is trivial compared to the protection that this program provides. After Malwarebytes has been installed, update it from the update tab and then check for any updates, after any updates then run a scan from the scanner tab, and then select a Full scan for the first time.

If you are using Vista right click on Malwrebytes and select Run As Administrator.

To fully protect your PC, Malwarebytes should be ran anytime that you close your web browser and are done using the internet, you should run a quick scan and if any malware is found then you should also run a full scan to be sure that the malware has been completely purged from your entire PC.

You can also protect your PC from known rogue web sites by downloading and installing SpywareBlaster, it does not scan for anything, and it does not remove anything, SpywareBlaster will prevent your internet explorer from connecting to known restricted, harmful, or rogue web sites for an added layer of protection.

Download AVG-Free Edition from here;

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol

Download Malwarebytes from here;

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol

Download SpywareBlaster from here;

http://download.cnet.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html?tag=mncol

These security programs will do a very good job at protecting your PC from internet threats. I used to have to fight these threats all the time to get rid of them, on either friends or family if not my own PC, but ever since I have installed these three programs on my system, and that of all my friends and family, it has actually become quite boring and I almost miss the battles.

It runs multiple screens with the message internet script error

Hi hbatessr. You have a virus/spyware problem. Whatever has infected your system is trying to access different websites. You need to install and run a spy-ware and anti-virus program to resolve this. If you want some free programs, go to www.download.com and search for and download AVG anti-virus free version and Ad-Aware free version. Once you update and run both of these products, you will find lots of stuff that has infected your computer and needs to be deleted.
Hopes this helps!

Keep Your New PC In Top Shape....For Free!!!

The following tip is for everyone who is currently paying too much for their basic computer software!

Most PC users tell me how they just hate to spend their money each year on subscriptions to firewalls, anti-virus, and anti-spyware programs. Throw in a little more money up front for an office suit or photo editing software and you are looking at around $500 for the first year of ownership and around $100 in upgrades/update fees each year after!

Most folks don't know that with a little time and effort they can keep have their new system in good running order for zero dollars! Below are my list of must haves for your new shiny life hub!

1. AVG Free - Sleek and up to date anti virus program allows users most of the same features the expensive subscription based programs for free!

2. Ad-Aware Free - Great tool for anything AVG Free won't find. Specifically searches out for Spyware and other undesirables in your system for the cost of a breath of air.

3. CCleaner - Removes all the old junk on your system such as: trash, internet history, deleted files, and even has a handy start up manager, registry cleaner and add/remove programs application. Regular updates and also free.

4. Defraggler - I feel a sleeker, faster fragmenting tool for all of your attached drives, which is updated every month or so. Free from the makers of CCleaner.

5. Open Office - A free, MS Office like software suite that includes a Word Processor, Spread Sheet, and Presentation program. Updated regularly and has most of the same features the paid for suites have. For those of us who simply create documents this is a must have! Why spend $100's just to write a letter!

6. Gimp - Free image editor that is both powerful and easy to use.

Each of the above programs aside from being free are updated constantly and come with a ton of online based documentation and instructions for use. So delete all that bloatware that comes installed on your machine and simply run the Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, CClaner, and Defraggler once a month and your system will keep purring along for years to come!

Computer slow or unable to download from the internet

If you are experiencing slow computer response or are unable to download from the internet (especially anti-virus software), you are most likely infected with mal-ware (malicious software). This can occur by landing on nefarious websites and clicking on an area that secretly installs some code on your computer. Here's a generic correction you might want to try to regain control of your computer and send those mal-ware programs to the etherworld.

First, you'll need to go to an uninfected computer and go to www.downloads.com (This is a C-Net sponsored site and should be safe to download from). In the search on the site, type in MalwareBytes. This is an excellent free program that does a wonderful job of getting rid of most of the mal-ware out there. Download the program onto a USB drive or burn it to a CD.

Now, you'll want to boot up the infected computer into safe mode (hit F8 repeatedly when starting the computer until you are presented with a boot menu). When you get the boot menu, select Safe Mode with Networking. Once in Safe Mode, you'll want to install the malwarebytes program you just downloaded. Install and run the software (allowing it to update if it can). The software will detect and remove most of your problems (especially if it was able to update). Be sure to have the software delete all infections once it is done.

Now, reboot the computer normally and run a full scan with MalwareBytes again (if it was unable to update because malware was blocking it, update it first). Remove all infections (if any) again and reboot.

You'll probably notice a dramatic difference in the performance of your PC once you've accomplished this task. If you found the program useful, consider purchasing it (I'm not affiliated with the program in anyway, I've just found it quite useful and would like to see it continue to be supported).

There are other good programs out there as well, just be careful as there are several scams that claim to be anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that only cost you and install malware themselves.

How can i be sure my mcAfee is catching all spyware virus adware and spam Is there a temporary program or something compatable I can use? I have windows xp and internet exployer 8? Has had hard drive...

use these 3 programs to keep your PC clean

Firefox web browser instead of Internet Explorer
i HATE IE... Firefox is much faster and safer because it constantly get updates which makes it harder for hackers to attack your PC from it. its too easy to attack Internet Explorer because they rarely update it.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html

Threatfire to help your current anti-virus program
http://www.threatfire.com/

Adaware - removes spyware and adware
And run this once every couple of weeks update it and let it scan while you leave the computer for a couple of hours
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

Hope this helps you as much as its all helped me....and its ALL free stuff on the net!

Acer Aspire 5310 The laptop appears to connect to the internet but when the home page opens it comes up with a blank screen that says connecting. I am then unable to shut the page down without going...

What kind of anti-virus and anti-malware programs are you running? This sounds like you might have been infected by a trojan/virus and that one or the other or even both of your anti-virus/anti-malware programs are blocking a hijacked home page. If this is indeed the case, the antivirus and/or anti-malware programs are doing the jobs they are supposed to do. You will need to run an excellent anti-malware program such as MalwareBytes located here
and SuperAntiSpyware located here
Run those two programs after updating them of course to ascertain the status of your computer. Let the programs do the job they are intended to do, i.e. scan and remove what they find, then reboot your computer. I also suggest the use of a good FREE antivirus program called AVAST Home Free version located here
Avast has been my antivirus of choice for over 4 years now, great automatic updating and free registration for a year at a time. You will have to go to to the website to complete their registration form, but it's simple as pie and you love the fact that you did. So do at least the first two things, then come back to us with word of what you found on your system.
