SOURCE: acer aspire not booting up

Dear f1at3r1c

Righteo then, you should be starting by resetting your BIOS, and you can do this by removing the outer casing o the PC tower. Once yoiu have done this you then need to find the jumper that clears the CMOS/ BIOS. Now if you are somewhat unsure of what a jumper switch is, it just consists of a smallplatic cap which covers two metal conductive pins on the motherboard. There is usually a pin which is not covered.

Now once you have found the CMOS/ BIOS jumper setting, you will need to first remove the motherboard battery. The battery is nothing more than a glorified watch battery of the CR2032 type, and it will be silver in colour and obviously round in shape (typical cell battery).

Once you have removed the battery, you will need to then clear the CMOS/ BIOS and this is done by moving that jumper switch into the clear position. The pin that is exposed will need to be covered withthe plastic jumper, and the pin on the opposite side will need to be exposed. Leave the jumper in the clear position for about 10-20 seconds or so, and then replace it back to the original position. (doing this discharges all of the electricity in the BIOS/ CMOS chip). Once you have done this, you put the battery back in place and then start the machine, then you are good to go. Start the machine and enter the BIOS as you planned to do. You might want to consider ormatting your hard disk and re-installing windows or whatever operating system you have, and this is eeasy enough, just change the boot sequence to boot from your CD/ DVD drive first, the your hard drive second. Once its loaded up, re-enter the BIOS and reset it back to HDD first.

Now f this has not worked, then you have an oooopsie (this is my saying of oh ***T, oops, something has malfunctioned. Its more than likely to be hardware driven, so take out your hard drive first and try to boot, if it lets you bios, then you found your fault. Try this with all devices until you either find the fault, or you have narrowed this to your processor/ motherboard.

Now im sure this will solve your problem, but there is one thng you should need to know about, and it is how to identify the correct jumper. This will have either any of the following markings written on the motherboard very close to the where the jumper is. You may need glasses/ magnifyer lens in order to read the lettering, but it should say one of the following things.

CLRCMOS
CLCMOS
CLRBIOS
CMOSRST
RESET
CMOSRT
BIOSRST
CMOSCLR
CLEAR
could also be under J1, JUMPER1

Now im sure that this is the fixya for you, but if this still does not work, then please get hold of me, and i will provide you with more info.

I wish you all the best, and hope you manage to solve this issue sortly

kind regards

yours sincerely

Oz

SOURCE: computer wont boot hear one beep from motherboard over and over

If your power supply is bad, there is typically a much cheaper way to fix it rather than purchasing a new one.

If you know a little about electronics or know someone who does have them open up the power supply and check the capacitors. Often times when a power supply goes bad its the result of capacitors going bad.

If you notice on the ends of any capacitors a brownish/whitish discharge or "bulging" then the capacitor has gone bad.

A new one typically cost less than a dollar and replacing it is fairly easy if you know how to solder.

Let me know if you have anymore questions and hopefully if this is the case you can save some money.

It looks like your battery is either discharged or has a short circuit.
Plug the power AC cord in the laptop and let recharge the battery at least 3 hours before you try to start it again. If the computer boots up, enter the BIOS and check to see if you have a "battery check" oprion. If you do, start it and let it run until it is done (it may take several hours to complete). It will check the battery charge cycle.

IF the machine is just shutting down it's likely the power supply. If it's constantlly rebooting itself, it's a corrupt bootlog. If the machine is just "freezing" when it tries to boot, it's likely motherboard related.

Acer aspire 5536 wont boot up

remove power cord, pull out battery, press and hold the power button for 10 full seconds. Wait 1 minute, place battery back in and then power cord. Then try it. This should work. If by chance it does not, check your memory chips because an effective one will prevent boot up. You can remove one at a time and try booting to see if one is faulty.

Acer aspire m3201 wont boot up

There are numerous issues that could cause this but if absolutely nothing happens, no lights, no fans, nothing then check the power supply. Use a simple voltage tester to see if you have any voltage on the connectors going to the hard drive and cd/dvd drives. If not this is a pretty easy and relatively inexpensive fix. You can e-mail me at globalmac@yahoo.com for more help.

Acer netbook wont turn on

You must be facing any of these four issues:
1) power issue
2) No POST
3) NO Boot
4) No video

Power issue - the system does not turn on at all. In this case check the AC adapter and the battery.

No POST - You may have to check the Memory, Hard drive and the optical drive. Can also be an issue with the video card2.gif/ key board/ mouse/main board which can prevent the system from turning on.
try reseating all the components above except the motherboard.

No Boot - Issue with the Operating system2.gif. Try booting into safe mode and check whether the system turns on perfectly. If so try to uninstall all the software you do not use. and may also consider a system restore2.gif. else consider a Dell Complete factory restore.

No video - Try flashing light on the screen and look for the desktop. If you see the icons then probably the back light needs to be changed else the issue is with the display itself or the video card.

Kindly comment.

Acer aspire 5570z wont boot to windows

Insert a windows boot disc. Go into the bios select it to boot from CD-ROM first. Then you can go from there. If you get it to boot to windows disc, then you could start reinstalling windows. If you are still having issues then there is a more serious issue. If you have any other questions let me know.
Thanks,
Lee

Hi please help me with my acer 3003 wont boot

try to power up with power cord only and see if it works. If no lights turn on than your motherboard is dead. If it turns on and nothing happens make sure there is memory installed(RAM). If it turns on and you see windows screen than it shuts off than your operating system needs to be installed again. Also, you can try booting in safe mode by hitting f8 when you initially start your computer and see if it stays on and if it does you have a virus most likely. Good luck.
