It starts up good then stops and a big cloud of smoke comes out. Got a new ignighter (50$) but still doing the same. can you help me? You could have an air problem. Take the cover off the heater and see if it runs ok, if it does then you have an air problem, check for bad lines or cracked housings

I have 100,000 btu kerosene gibson heater and it runs good with the cover open about 2 inches. If I move it eather way it surges and then shuts off. need help

I had same issue would blow out blue smoke on and off with the cover on . Ran good with the cover off . Checked all the lines made sure all tight and clean .
When I checked the fuel filter it had some resistance not very much so I sprayed it with carb cleaner and blew it out with compressed air and heater is working fine now . It open up about 50% more air flow which is what it needed with the vacuum fuel system .

Kerosene does not get stale or go bad like gas. I would make sure the tank is close to full to prevent condensation and just put it away in a dry place. I have stored over 50 each year for many years and have never had any problems.

One of two things, a high heat limit control or the flame sensor, also check your air line that runs to the heater nozzle could be cracked, not enoughair to fuel mix will make it burn dirty.
