Question about HP G70-250us Notebook

1 Answer

My HP G70-258US (Vista OS) hard drive will only run the computer in Safe Mode. The drive has failed the S.M.A.R.T. I have replaced the drive. After reinstalling the HP software on the new drive and rebooting, the computer immediately goes into HP repair mode where it stays for up to 90 minutes. Repair returns 'NLS Data can not be found or is corrupt'. The instruction says put in the first CD, select the language and let the computer run. When I insert the first CD, the HP restore routine comes up immediately - where I then select 'return to factory settings'. There is no opportunity to select the language and the result is the same, i.e. reinstall the OS, reboot, repair, NLS Data cannot be found or is corrupt. I have been through this no fewer than 5 cycles. I suspect two things: one: The NLS is corrupt on the install disk, and two: The instruction is expecting a MS Vista CD and I only have the HP (version) Vista CD (DVD actually). Is there a way to put the NLS Data onto the new drive?.

I would advise a different os than vista but you can put the old hard drive back in run it in safe mode and by a cheap external hard drive case and transfer the files for the operating system to the new hard drive and then switch the drives back out

My Hp compaq PC showing problem about HDD - Disk Read Error . But This HDD was run very good to another PC ?

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty Make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty. Computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error. Even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems Motherboard and a Hard Drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail. b> 1: Download a disk read error repair tool, install this error repair tool.
2: Open disk read error repair tool and scan you computer for free
3: Then click the Repair All Button again and your done! It is very easy to repair disk read error.

Here are the url of disk read error repair tool:http://www.RepairErrorInstantly.com/ttfi... or rather than doing this try the alternative which is windows own repair Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice Select safe mode with networking to download http://www.RepairErrorInstantly.com/ttfi... Then restart again into safe mode with command prompt. Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Select safe mode with command prompt then type in chkdsk/f/r which will scan for and and attempt repair of bad files and bad sectors on hard drive You should have no input while chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer Hope this helps. b>

I have an HP Pavilion a6647c desktop computer, running Windows Vista. Only 1.5 years old (bought 3/2009). when we try to turn computer on, IF we get to Windows logon window, it will freeze right...

Hi There,

Your problem has likely only 3 sources.

1. Corrupt Boot Files in Vista
2. Virus
3. Hard Drive locking up.

PLease boot into Safe Mode, download Malwarebytes Free Edition malware remover, stay in Safe Mode and run it there.

If no viruses are found for you to remove, you nedd a Vista Program Disc. Boot from the Disc and use Repair.

If no luck there, return to Safe Mode and use Sytem Restoego back to the earielst point in time in the past when you remember you puter running correctly.

Failing in all these, you likely need a new hard drive and start fresh.

Remember,

DON"T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!

Regards,

Selk

I have black screen in my monitor

Try the safe mode . If that works and then try a system restore. Try a hard reset . Try running the computer on only the power cord . Maybe throttling is the problem . Try the hard drive test in the Bios . That should fail usually for this kind of a problem . If failed replace the hard drive .

HP DV4 displays only a blue screen running vista

Shutdown the computer,disconnect external peripherials.
Turn on the computer and hit F8 key as soon as you restart the computer
You will get the windows advance options menu.
Select the Safe mode option and hit enter.
If the computer boots in safe mode, do a system restore to previous date.
If computer restore then issue is resolved.
If still unable to boot in safe mode.
Ran a harddrive diagnostic. If harddrive test passes. If harddrive test fails replace harddrive.
Boot the system using the windows xp or vista operating system disk. Try to repair the OS then reboot the system and check.
If still unable to boot possible issue with corrupt operating system.
Reinstall Operating system. / Recover System . Good Luck.

Can you try the monitor on another computer? Also, make sure the cable is tight on the monitor side. And you also may need to replace the cable between the monitor and the computer.

Long booting up in takes 2-3 hrs. before my OS start

Two to three hours is a long time! It sounds like your hard drive is getting ready to crash.

If your computer is running, click Start and, in the search box, type

eventvwr

and press enter. (If you have XP, click Start -> Run and type eventvwr).

Under Windows Logs, click System. On the right side, click Source. All the events will sort by source. Scan the list for any "disk" errors. If you are getting disk errors, your hard drive is crashing. You should either take your computer to a competent professional to get the hard drive imaged, or purchase a new hard drive and do the imaging.

Hp compaq presario v3000 is not loding the OS, show an error

  • as you boot the computer, start tapping the F8 keys
  • From the boot menu, select Safe Mode
If this seems to work, you can try restoring the computer to an earlier point from Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
If Safe Mode also fails to load, you would have to check your disk for errors or you may have to install XP all over again.
Please get back, if you need any further help.
