I believe your car is telling you there is no oil pressure. If this is correct, yes it is dangerous for you to drive the car. Please check the oil dip stick to insure there is oil in your engine. If there is no oil or if the oil is low, add oil until the level is showing in the cross hatch area of the dip stick. If the oil is at the proper level already, two things: Thing one, your oil pump is not pumping and not providing the lubrication your engine requires, or two: your oil sensor is not sensing correctly and sending the wrong message. If this were my car, I would presume the car oil sensor is correct - that the oil pump is not pumping.

If there is no oil circulating, you will quickly destroy your engine. My advice is if there is oil in the car and the sensor is telling you to stop the car, have your mechanic tow your vehicle to his or her shop for repair. The Tow will cost you a few bucks ... destroying the engine will cost you at least $2000.00 US (dont say where you are located please).

the oil level is good, it's darker than usual but I do have enough inside the engine. So your guess is that the oil pump is not working...how much should I expect to pay for this part??

This is a shot in the dark ... I am not a VW mechanic and I don't know the prevailing shop rate where you are located. I would expect to pay around $500.00 for this repair in my area. The pump probably costs $125.00 ... I am guessing.

Yes, you are in danger of ruining your motor.. check your oil by pulling out the dipstick, wiping the oil of the end of the dipstick and replace it fully down again into the dipstick tube. Pull it out again and check the level of the oil. If it is low, add oil before driving. If it does not show on the dipstick, add 1 quart at time and check the level each time before adding more, until it is to the correct level marked in the dipstick

Oil gauge goes to zero when stopped or idle. No leaking, engine working good. Put oil in two days ago and again yesterday. Due for oil change in a couple of weeks. Light on dash board "check...

Possible that the OIL filter is clogged and is reducing the pressure due to this when the engine is idling or in low RPM. So before you run the engine further and make it more damaging , it is worth to have the engine oil / oil filter changed. If there is still no result, check the oil pressure switch. If not the oil pump can be faulty. This needs a technical help and should be consulted.

Either a bad sensor, your way over-due for an oil change, the engines sludged up. or the motor is worn out. You should take it to a qualified shop to find out which.

I have a peugeot 206cc convertible, i was driving this mornign and i noticed a warning light flashing with 'Oil pressure insufficient' coming up on the dash, what is wrong with my car?

Before driving again, check your oil level. It is not uncommon for Peugeot's to leak a little oil. Great cars in my opinion, but do leak a little oil. If all is ok, an oil change may be due with a manufacturer oil filter. Please let me know if you need anything else. I have a 205 shop manual if you need it. No charge!!

1994 Lexus ES300 large cloud of smoke when the car is started. Also, drove for several miles on the freeway then parked. When the car started, no smoke until I hit the first stoplight, while idling it was...

Valve stem seals can cause this problem, but normally only when first started. Oil in the rocker cover seaps through the oil seals into the cylinders and is burnt up on start up.
Try a "STOP A LEAK" additive and it may reduce the oil consumption and smoke.
I found some on e-bay and it worked on my tired old escort. It even stopped the rattling tappets.

Undervoltage consumer defective

Regarding the first problem, there is possibly an oil level sensor issue or vehicle version coding issue(both can be more fully checked at a dealership). The second problem is not uncommon. Obviously, there could be a low voltage if the vehicle sits for a long time or is not driven alot. Sounds like the ac system lost synchronization due to lack of voltage. With vehicle running, you should be able to press and hold recirc/rest or recirc/defrost buttons on ac control panel(can't quite remember which combination). Press and hold until leds start flashing, then the ac system will go through a resynch phase. If it completes this and the led's stop flashing, then it's ok. If it does not and the led's flash very quickly, this indicates an actual malfunction of ac system adjustment motors.
