Hi, the switch has a big tang on the top that must be compressed against the switch to release it from the door frame. There may be a hole there where you can reach a nail in to compress the tang. Please uinplug the refrigerator before attempting to remove the switch. A new swich is about $7 online. I would test the switch with an ohmmeter before buying a new one. Please let me know if you have questions and thanks for using FixYa.

I own an RCE24C2A a/c that stopped cooling last weekend. The run capacitor was bad (can bloated) and was replaced. I also found that the high pressure cut off switch was bad ( voltmeter reads open...

Before working around or with your AC unit, be sure that all power to the unit is disconnected. The switch can be replaced without having to evacuate your refigerant, it is shown how in this instructional video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z7PLhqQAlo. Determine what type of pressure switch you will need according to how many wires you need, then follow this link to purchase the switch needed: http://www.americanhvacparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=8c7070e8fb882954689484b1e9cd2880&Store_Code=AM&Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=ps-amana. I see that you had a capacitor issue in the past, sometimes the HVAC repair companies won't install the new capacitor correctly on intention so as to get more of your money; if you didn't already know, the capacitor is what makes the fan run so if your system is on but the fan isn't running, your capacitor is bad. Here's how to fix it yourself for a fraction of the cost of the HVAC repair company: go to the back of your outside unit and look inside the access panel with the electrical warning sticker on it, if the capacitor is bowed up at the top, it needs to be replaced. If it turns out to be the capacitor, follow this link for a new capacitor replacement kit. The kit also comes with the proper tools and parts needed as well as detailed instructions on how to replace the part yourself. http://hvacrepairkits.com/index.php/content/article/68
I hope this helps!

I am receiving the F9 code. The oven will not turn on. I have reset the oven but it still does not work

Hi

F9 is a door lock error and to solve this issue you can hold the light switch for 15 seconds, this will reset the control. If it won't work then hold the light switch in and set the unit to clean and after a minute press cancel to cancel the clean cycle. If still it won't work then the door lock assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I have an Amana refrigerator door light switch part# C8967502 that is no longer being made. Is there another mfg. who makes a switch that could replace the original Amana switch Thank you Denis Subler

I'd think that any of the local appliance repair shops would have an old stock of those replacement switches. Sure, maybe Amana doesn't have them, they dump old stock, but they dump them to repair shops!
In any case, any "normally open" switch can be retrofitted, even in-frame burglar alarm contacts can be used for that application. The switch when pressed IN is open, not letting power come to the bulb. When the door opens, the switch pops out and "closes" the circuit to let power to the bulb.
You may even find on available to retrofit, at Radio Shack.

How do I replace the refigerator light switch on a Maytag side by side MCD2257HEC?

There are two light switches in this unit. The frist thing you need to do is unplug the unit. then you need to kind of pry the switches out on an angle. Don't do anything until you get the new switches. Look at the switches and compare them to your switches. you will beable to see which way the switches come out.

No water comes automatically to the ice maker

What you need is a new ice maker the front gear is not engaging the contacts, you can buy the front module only ( what u put the wire in to on the l & v contact ) but a whole new ice maker assy is the same price.

Infinite Switch on Amana Stove

I would start with P1. The "P" terminal is for the "element on" indicator light on the panel. Start with P1 then turn on that element and check the light for operation. P2 is most likely a loop through. Hope that helps.
