Either one of the inverter boards has a failing capacitor on it, or the FL (backlight) tube is burning out.
in your case, the most likely suspect is the tube.
The easiest way to find out if it's the tube or the inverter board, is to plug each of the tubes into the others inverter. This isn;t possible on all models because of wire length, but in most cases it can be done.
If you have the same problem on the same side, it's the tube
If the problem moves to the other side, it's the inverter.

You can either look for failed caps on the inverter, or just replace the inverter - the former being much less expensive if it's just a capacitor or 2.

If it's the inverter, here's a video that might help you out in determining what capacitors have gone and how to replace them.

IF it's the backlight you'll have to get the make and model of the LCD panel itself, and then go to somewhere like www.lcdpanels.com to order the backlight (or the entire panel if you don't think you can replace the backlight without damaging the panel).

Yes, flat panels have a fluorescent tube or 2 in them to provide backlighting - they are connected to the high voltage inverter boards.

if you've never seen an LCD with only one or 2 FL tubes in it, you've never repaired a laptop!

if you want to know the REAL frequency there, check herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCFL_invert... where you will see inverters for laptops which have...you guessed it...ONE output for ONE CCFL because that's all the laptop used!

Read my post, yes, ONE CCFL - most laptop LCD panels up to about 15" usually only use one tube, larger ones will use 2.

Samsung LCD 46 inch half of the screen is darker than the other half.

Hi, while fixing another persons lcd tv i used lower rated power supply to try to fire up the tv ( picture-no sound) the bulbs ( actually cold cathode fluorescent ) lit up but only halfway. So sounds like the power supply for your backlight has gotten weak. You may try a workaround I've used on personal equipment, try turning down brightness on tv-this may,if your lucky, even out the brightness. hope this helped. Prodzilla

Le40m86bdx picture not sharp

I have a two and a half month old Sharp, LC-19SK24U-W. It was fantastic with fantasic, clear, beautifully colored picture until two weeks ago. All of a sudden, the picture starting getting darker and darker. Nothing had been adjusted from day one when I set up contrast, etc. This comes and goes but most of the time is an issue. I can make it a bit lighter but then it is so fuzzy and grainy it is a very poor picture. Also, while this began, one time the television turned itself off and then back on without a power surger or anything.
