I am in the UK. Valor fires are sold all over the world. That is why I specifically stated my model as being a Dream MK2 which is not listed on the link you gave, because it is not marketed in North America. However, I did find the information elsewhere, and the instructions for the coal ARE in the installation manual.

joneeboy, where did you get the instructions for the coals please

  • joneeboy Sep 05, 2012

just googled for it,selecting uk only.It took me a while, and sorry, I can't remember the particular site, but the complete installation and operating manual is there.

I wish posters would read the questions properly, and NOt post replies that are irrelevant. This site is used by people from many countries in the world, and equipment does vary from country to country. In particular, electrical and electronic equipment in most countries of the world is nothing like that sold in North America. Different models, different voltages, different Hz.

The reference to the gotogas site was in case you needed it in the future, I have found many manuals there for free. I thought you response was a bit blunt for someone trying to assist you, i won't make the same mistake in future!

Here's a link to Valor. Click on the Downloads tab, find your model number and you can download the Owners Manual and print it. Or contact Customer Service.

I have just learned that the Instructions for installing the Ceramic Fuel Effect (i.e. Coals) are a separate set of instructions, attached to the bag of coals. If you don't have this, you will need to contact Valor Customer Support, before attempting to install them.

Valor sells its products around the world, but they vary substatially according to the market.. I am in the UK, which is why I specifically stated my gas fire model is a Dream MK2. It is not listed on the link you gave me, because it is not marketed in North America. There is no similar link in Europe, because it is illegal for consumers to install or repair gas appliances themselves. However, I did find the installation manual elsewhere, and coal layout IS detailed in it.

Ok, then here's a link to the Owners/Installation Manual. Closely read Page 28. regarding the Ceramic Fuel Effect Installation. Just copy and paste the link below into your web browser. You can download and print the manual for future reference.

I already stated twice that mine is a Dream Mk2. It is not a Homeflame model, and nothing like the Homeflame Dream or Harmony to which you have now provided the link, and it does not use their type of ceramic coal effect either. Valor have produced models named Dream fo many years. The Homeflames were introduced about 2008. My Dream Mk 2 was already in my house when I bought it as a rental 12 years ago. it is an open fire. It has no glass front like the Homeflames, it has piezzo ignition, not battery, cannot be lit by taper, and does not have ceramic stones like the Homeflames. As I have posted, I already found the data I need from another source, have finished the job, and left the house.

I have a valor dream slimline gas fire which the coals keep building up with soot and eventually blocking the pilot light, why does this happen? how can i resolve this problem?

The coals have either shifted or were installed improperly. They are causing flame impingement, which causes soot. If you have your Owners Manual consult that, for the proper placement of the coals.

Hope this helps you to solve the problem, Danny.

Gas engineer wants to re-arrange coals correctly post service

yes he is right on that the postion off the coals have to be in the correct pstion to stop fire sooting and fumes coming from fire , if the coals are in postion you take them out and put them back the same as they came out , or there should be a picture of the coal lay out in the users book , or look on line for the make of fire , if the gas engneer cannot work this out then go to some one who can ,

this is basic gas fitting any gas fitter will know this if not walk away from them ,

hope this helps
