Belt is loose or needs replaced. on a 70 series kenmore washer machine

Can you provide the exact Make, Model and Kenmore model number? ..........

Kenmore model numbers use the format ###.######## with the first three digits of 110 for Whirlpool manufactured machines.........

The model number on top load washers is usually found by lifting the lid and looking above the tub.

The Fixya numbers are Stock Numbers.

Since basic top load direct drive, top load electronic and front load washers are very different, the actual Model Numbers are necessary to correctly diagnose the problem.

Slipping on direct drive washers is usually caused by a damaged / broken Motor Coupler or clutch.

If yours is a direct drive machine, see the following:

I am having trouble replacing my belt on my Kenmore 70 series

i've got them down to 10 minutes, but here goes. remove the bolts going into pump, but do not remove pump . remove the transmission bolt with the spacer and this is where you push the belt through and around pulleys.. this is a little more difficult. you will need to take off the yoke spring and move the transmission pulley around until the spin control magnet catches for spin. it will begin to take pressure off of clutch. you will need a long screwdriver or something like it to apply pressure down on the clutch plate this is to allow to to slip the belt thru the bar the spring came off of and under it.. you can then pull the belts around all pulleys and put everthing back in its place and your done...

Kenmore 60 series does not agitate

Dear chrissharter,

Probably just a broken belt!
Open it up and see!
Replacing can be a pain but belt cost is probably under $20 at appliance parts store near you in Phone Book.
Replacing is just removing nuts & bolts and moving brackets
Before you take it apart look carefully at where the new belt will go!
If you have someone do it for you it should cost a lot less if you know it's the belt & you have it all apart!
I have to go to my regular job now but if you need detailed instructions you may want to go for FixYas' Guaranteed Solution!

Good Luck!

Kenmore 70 series washer will not spin, clothes are too wet

Not a belt, this is only a sound deadening devise on the brake housing. Not really needed. Replace the coupler

Kenmore 60 series will not drain

Well if this is a belt driven model then your solenoid coil is bad.
This model 's motor only revolves in one direction. To spin it has to shift gears. It does this by means of a solenoid mounted on the transmission called a wigwag. Note: if the lid switch is bad no power can go to the wigwag and shift it. If this is a direct drive model(no belt) then it has to be a bad lid switch.

Kenmore washer 60 series

Hi, thanks for using the FixYa service. Your lid switch is probably broken. Make sure you can hear it click when you open and close the lid. It it is a very common problem on that model. Probably has nothing to do with the pillows, that was just the last load in the machine before the common part failure. Get me the exact model number and I can get you the replacement part number.

Kenmore Washer Top Load Series 60 won't drain

The water pump is a belt-driven device actuated by a clutch. Your problem could be:

1. Stuck pulley - break it loose and WD-40 it
2. Broken belt - replace
3. Bad clutch - call repair or replace

There is almost nothing that can go wrong in the pump itself. It's probably one of these three.
