Any audio input can be used for a mic. However, some computers have a dedicated mic input. Typcially, a line-in port is color-coded blue and a mic port is color-coded pink.
The next challenge is to use your sound settings in the control panel to select input, if you have more than one, and adjust input volume level.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello jeff_glover
All computers have a line in and out input at the back of the tower . I 'm not familiar with your machine but if you can't find the inputs , go to the Device manager and check the sound, video and games controller .
Maybe it's only a question of driver and go then for an update from there . If you don't find the controller , you 'll need to purchase a sound card ( pci or vga ) .
Here are a few places where you can make your choise : http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=2&oq=sound+cards&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLL_enBE391BE393&q=sound+cards+for+pc#q=sound+cards+for+pc&hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enBE391BE393&prmd=ivns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=96KMTf3cONGRswby-P2NCg&ved=0CDUQrQQ&biw=1003&bih=630&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=7c15a4d4522ad2f7

Lexicon alpha and gxl2200 microphone

Are you trying to use the mic input on the back or plugging it into the instrument input on the front? If you use a low impedance mic with a quarter inch instrument input cord, you would need a transformer adapter to make the mic work on high impedance. Even if you put it on line in, you would still have to convert it. Only the XLR socket on the back will work on a low impedance mic.

How do i connect yamaha mixer to pc or yamaha receiver

I am sorry to disagree, but some information in the previous post is INCORRECT. DO NOT connect the output of the mixer to the MIC input. The mixer generates LINE level output that should go to the LINE-IN on the sound card. If you connect the mixer to the mic input, you will damage the sound card. MIC level inputs have an additional amplification stage.

Toshiba RT-SX1 possible input?

The preamp inside the mic input should be removed to turn it into a line input. You could just jump it however it'll have a lot of background noise if you do not remove it entirely. It requires knowledge of electronics and some soldering. And it wouldn't be really worth it since a mic input is mono.

Ipod input for sa-eh760

You can plug the Ipod into the mic input , to do test recording. But the result wont be great.

To listen the Ipod in your stereo you should plug the Ipod into the Auxiliary input on the stereo.

Naturally you do not need any dvd.

T60: use ''mic'' minijack as ''line'' minijack

From the "ThinkPad Online User's Guide" that came with my 600E: "Note: To use the input jack for an external stereo line-in device, you need to disable the microphone function with the software on your operating system. For example in Windows 98, you can disable the function by putting a check mark in the check box of Mute for MIC in the "Master Out" window. To use the jack for a manual microphone, disable the line-in function with the software."

Low audio input

You need to use a mic preamp or a mixer with a mic preamp built in. The inputs on the FCA202 are line level and they won't work with a mic directly.
