I did as you suggested. There was not a file with that exact name.

There are (3) similiar files. they are gmapbmap.img

    gmapprom.sum

    gmapbmap.sum

I found that I can get directions from the GPS, although the

map looks different. It is missing a lot of detail, and When I go for points of interest like

gas stations, resteraunts, etc. It says there is no data available.

  • snbasket Aug 04, 2008

No, I'm not sure how to do that.

Do I get that from Garmin's website?

  • snbasket Aug 05, 2008

I downloaded the update yesterday and no change.

The data is in the unit, but it is still nota available or locked. When I go to spell out a point of intersest, or choose address, or intersections it says no data available. If I just view the map, It does know where I am at. I also reprogrammed my current location as home and it remembers it and will give me directions there.

The map that we visually see does not appear as populated.

    Any more thoughts?

  • snbasket Aug 05, 2008

Now I feel stupid. when I had it in my briefcase, the memory card fell out!

Can I just load the info onto a blank memory card?

  • snbasket Aug 06, 2008

    I'm still not done.

I can not find the old memory card.

I have a new blank card.

What do I need to load onto it?

    And how?

Have you tried this?

You can try this step that I found. If you tried loading other mapas try this.

You will need to erase a file from the units memory. Connect your GPS system to your computer; go to start then ‘My Computer’, and double click on your device file (mass storage system), there you will see a folder named ‘Garmin’.
In this folder are several different files, look for file named gmapsupp.img. Right hand click on this file and delete as this file is causing the maps to lock.

there is an update in garmin's dowload page. the map that you are using is that the map that on the sd card or is that a map that youd downloaded.

We need to further isolate the problem that you have its either a problem with the man or the unit. Now since the update did not do anything and based on how the unit respond to the test that you did it remembers the setting the location where your are. Its just having troubles showing your point of interest. What I suggest you try right now is to reload the map on your memory card.

if you still have the same memory card that you were using before you can insert it back to the memory card slot but if you dont you can reload the map on to a blank memory card.

Your comes with a CD or a DVD you check if it contains the map you can just copy it from there to your blank memory card. Now if does not have one then you can download it from garmin's website. But I suggest you check first the cd or the dvd that came with your unit if it has a copy of the map.

One more question the original memory card was it already loaded with the map?

1300 nuvi screen comes up loading maps and stops

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that freezes on 'loading maps,' or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

My garmin nuvi 750 went dead when i got it to

Hello :

Resetting your GPS could solve the problem .

Here is how to reset your NUVI :

1:Turn the Nuvi on.

2:Touch the tools icon on the main screen. The tools icon is represented by a wrench surrounded by a blue circle.

3:Touch the "Settings" icon which appears as a wrench.

4:Push the "Restore" button at the bottom of the screen. A confirmation message will appear asking to confirm restoring the Nuvi to factory settings. Push yes to restore the factory settings
............................................................................................
Try this for hard reset .

Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen [ Don't let go ] , and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO RATE !
