You will need to plug your ethernet cable into the WAN port of the router. This will come from your cable-modem, DSL Modem or other high speed internet provider device. Once you do that, plug the router into the AC power source. Your router will most likely work properly with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) right out of the box.

Ports 1 2 3 4 are for wired computers.

NEED CD INSTALLATION

You don't need an installation CD to setup the wireless but you do need the ADSL settings from your Internet provider to configure the ADSL modem.
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. (WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access). Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security .

Still can't access the web

There will be no dial tone for wireless access as you do not use a dial up modem. Rather you should be seeing a signal strength indicator, usually in the lower right hand corner of your desktop. If you have purchased wireless access from your ISP you should have a wireless access point that the USB wireless adapter will receive the signal from. Follow your ISP's instructions for setting up wireless access. If your provider is Sierra Wireless here is a link to their support page. Click Here

Here is a link to the NetGear support page for the USB adapter. Click Here
