Question about Hotpoint DY46 Style Line Stainless Steel Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Hi I have a Hotpoint Double Oven Model 6181. The Main Oven has suddenly stopped heating up and I suspect the Element has gone. But how do you get the element out? - I can't pull it out and there are no fixing screws that you can get either a screwdriver or small socket onto. Ashley Eves

Hi.
All you need to do is to remove the screws securing the cover at the rear of the oven compartment.
There you will see the cicular eloement, just undo the fixing screws, and ease the element forward, transfer wires onto new elemnt, , refit, and job done.

The Element, which is rectangular, appears to be fixed in by screws that are only accessible from outside the oven. It looks to me as if I have to take the oven out of the oven cabinet to get at the element fixing screws from the outside, at the back. Is that correct?

    Hi.
Please clarify if your oven is fan assisted or not, because if it is, then what I stated previously stands,, if not, then you are going t have to remove the oven to get access to the ovenj base elemnt.

Hi Barkencoa, I've now got to the bottom of the situation. The Hotpoint 6181 is a fan assisted main oven with elements at the top, at the back (around the fan), and at the bottom of the main oven. You need to pull the oven out of the cabinet in which it is housed to get at the elements from the outside, at the back. I tested all the elements for their ohm resistance and I found the circular element mounted around the fan was open circuit. There are two fixing screws for the element that are unscrewed from the back outside of the oven. Then by removing the back plate inside the oven it was possible to get access to the element and remove it. Having got the element out it is obvious that it is completely burnt out. So I am on the road to getting the problem sorted. Thanks for your help.

If you are sure there is 220v going to unit, it most likely is element or click / control. If you have a ohms meter, you can test the element

The main oven of my DY46 Hotpoint is not heating up

It will be the element that has gone, and it is easy to replace.
Remove the cover at rear of oven compartment, and you will see the fan element, just undo fixing screw, and replace element.

Oven not heating

Hello.
If the fan is working, but there is no heat, then it is the fan oven element that needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with timer on this occasion.
Remove panel at rear of oven compartment, there you will see the round element.
Undo fixing screws, and remove element, disconnect leads and fit onto new element, refit new elemrnt, replace cover, and job done!!!

Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thankyou

Oven not getting hot

The fan oven element needs to be replaced in the Hotpoint 6150 cooker.
Access is by removing the inner rear cover of the oven, there you will see the element.
Replace with a new one.

It is possible the base element is faulty in the top oven of the Hotpoint EW95,
The other possibility is that the high speed grill element is only part working. You need to check both these elements.
If the fan is working o/k in the main oven , but not getting hot, then you need to replace the element.
If it does heat, then it could be a faulty thermostat or possibly selector switch.
Unless you have a good working knowledge of electrics and know how to use a meter, then I would suggest you call some one in.
Plz rate my solution
Thanks.

HOTPOINT DOUBLE OVEN mODEL uy46 BOTTOM OVEN NOT WORKING CANNOT CL

Hi,
While it is flashing auto ,you will not get the oven to heat up.
You must press the timer buttons in the correcf sequence to cancel auto.Refer to user hand book.
If you suceed with this, and the oven still does not get hot, then the element has probably failed.
