Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

We want to convert our US DVDs to work in a UK "LG" DVD player.

Rather than converting all your DVDs, it may be better to find a DVD player which will play both kinds of DVDs, NTSC and PAL. They are available. If you do want to convert the discs, probably a video conversion service would handle that but it would cost you for each disc, probably $10 each and they may not convert any commercial DVDs. These services are usually available locally or you can mail off the DVDs to one in large metro areas.

Of course you need the dual power, 110V for USA and 220V for UK.

No longer loading dvds

You may have a bad laser. First, make sure the laser assy. travels back and forth easily, then make sure the table the disc sits on spins freely. If it still isn't reading, load a disc and immediatly flip it over to it's top and see if it works. Working or not, still a bad laser.

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.

Home burned DVDs won't load, commercialy produced DVDs load OK

Try using a programme called dvd flick http://www.dvdflick.net/ to author your dvds and use imgburn http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn them. I had similar kind of problem with dvds burned with nero and now use dvd flick and imgburn all the time and have had no problems. They are both free programmes so hopefully they will sort the problem out for you :)

Record on DC210 and playback on home DVD

You should absolutely be able to play the recorded DVDs from your camcorder in your DVD player, as long as you remember to finalize the disc and the disc is compatible with the player. If your DVD player is less than five years old or so, you should be fine, provided you're not using dual-layer discs.

the Laser is most likely defective. most likly it will need replacement. There is no correction that can made to correct the problem except to that of a replacement of the laser
