AMV420AA Microwave Oven will intermittently display 77:77
Microwave will display77:77 push power level or start on screen. when numbers are coming on screen it beeps each time. then it may clear itself independently and display the same thing again. Sometimes it will not stop. When i open the door and then hit stop, it erases, but will go back to doing what it was doing. Occassionally, it will not let you erase the numbers. i have turned the machine off for a while...unplugged it. It will go days without doing this or perhaps months...could a neighbors video machine be interfering?

You have to put the cook time in first and then you press the power level button (just below the number 7 on the keypad) and put the power level in. The choices are 1 through 10. Fifty percent is probably power level 5. Once you have put in the power level, just push the Start button and it will start cooking.
TOUCH PANEL & MICROCOMPUTER BOARD TEST FOR WHIRLPOOL....

CHART NOTE: The humidity sensor test results will appear on the display after 8-seconds.If the tests are successful, "OK " will be displayed. If one or more of the tests fail, "ERR " will be displayed.. 2.When a keypad is pressed, a number according to the test chart will be displayed. When no keypad is pressed, a blank "O" (square) is displayed...

you have to enter your cooking time and THEN hit the "power level" button. Most likely, the display will read "the current power level is set to 10" or something like that. just go ahead and put in the number for the percent you want. For example, hit 5 for 50% power. Then, hit "start." eat
You may have a bad control board. Have you tried unplugging the oven and then reapplying poqwer afterwards? Manytimes , when elcetronic control logic gets corrupt, a power down/up reset clears the problem. If it continues, I would consider replacing the control board..Here is a link to the circuit board you might consider replacing.. http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1059895&PPStack=1
These kind of things are generally trial and error and there is no guarantee that this will be the solution to your specific problem..
