Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Bosch logixx 9 is struggling to spin. When it comes to the spin part of the cycle the drum churns backwards and forwards, like it is distributing the washing evenly around the drum. However this can go on too long, 5 mins plus. After this churning it does either of two things; 1. It finally spins 2. It stops and indicates on the digital display Ready, this appears to be back to the start of the cycle. On investigating this problem on the internet I think the motor brushes may be worn and require replacement. Can a layman do this or is it a job for a technician. I have an engineering background so am fairly competent technically, I would however be grateful for any advice on changing the brushes on my particular machine.

Brushes are easy replacement.......just make sure you get correct 1`s there are 3 or 4 differt types you need motor make................then look at the brush holders...... these will be white, black, or brown. held in by 2 screws...or a clip at the side of the holder......then just buy replacements............total time about half an hour........

Fills with water then does not rotate, also does not spin

Check for large items of clothes being tangled if the Bosch washing machine doesn't spin. The weight could not be evenly distributed in the drum and the spin cycle will have been disabled to prevent damage to the clothes..

Load the drum with large and small clothes together and run the entire washing cycle and spin cycle again.

Add more powder and run the entire washing and spin cycle again if you haven't found tangled large items, but the spin cycle still failed. This indicates the amount of cloths was too small.

Add 1 tablespoon of fabric softener to 1 pint of water and pour it into the main detergent dispenser if there's no tangling and the load was a normal size. The cause would have been excessive suds because of too much, or the wrong kind, of detergent. Use HE (High Efficiency) detergent in Bosch washing machines.

I have a SIMPSON ENCORE 555 heavy duty washing machine. It will do a normal wash cycle, but when it comes to the spin cycle, it doesn't distribute the washing around the drum and hence won't spin. any...

Hi just read your posting. Now does the washing tangle around the agitator? In your posting you mentioned the washing not distributing around the drum.Could you confirm that your machine is a top loader for me,because the word "drum and distribute" are terms for a front loader. If your machine is a top loader which I think it is then the problem could be your brake arm or spin coil is not operating. Please reply and let me know if the clothes are tangling around the agitator.Looking forward to your reply.

WFD 2460 will not start wash cycle after it has filled with water

Isolate power and water supply and gain access to the main drum motor. Check for condition of carbon brushes by removing them and repla
ce if severely worn. Check wiring loom around motor and right back to module controller. The clicking is obviously power being supplied to motor via the loom to the motor. finally check for any dry solder joints or burnt areas on the circuit board controlling the motor.

Remove the 4 transit bolts from the back of the washing machine. These are supposed to be remove during installation. If they are not removed the machine jumps around like crazy on the spin cycle and the machine is almost unusable.
