Question about Breville Die Cast 800ESXL Espresso Machine

Open Question

My Breville 800ES pump cuts off after about 10 seconds - when running the espresso filter. And the steamer had the same problem but it no longer works at all. The only way to continue the pump operation is to turn the unit off and on with the dial already turned to espresso. Otherwise it needs to be turned off and on, wait for the function light, only for it to happen again.

BrevilleUSA.com has a silicon seal (steam ring) to replace faulty or worn ones. There is no shipping charge, and they are $4 each. To replace the steam ring you'll need to remove the stainless spray disk on the brew head with a phillips screwdriver (one screw) and pull off the old ring (pay attention to the direction and placement of the stainless disk).  Takes about 2 minutes to do.
Part # .800ESXL/192

Also, on mine I noticed that the filter holder was ground down at the factory a bit too much on one side, which causes a slight leak down one side (coffee, not water).  You might check the holder (with the filter removed) for imperfections that could lead to your leak. Good luck.

SOURCE: breville ESP8XL Espresso Machine Cafe Roma leaking.. help please..

We had that happen and it was a crack in the black ring that holds the filter. Breville could not supply us with one but we found an OEM part in aluminum from http://www.vancouverwireedm.com/caferomadiyt.htm. We received it 1 week after ordering. It was pretty easy to replace. Our machine works fine now.

SOURCE: how do I get my breville cafe roma espresso

Same thing happened to me and I had to push down on the water tank a little more firmly. It looked like it was seated okay but I guess it needed to be pushed down more to open the little spring-loaded opening at the bottom.

Why does the pump make a knocking sound when using the steamer

Hi,
The steam is hitting water somewhere in the tubing....this is not a problem... it's just the natural reaction that happens when very hot steam hits cooler water...

My steamer on my Breville Die Cast Expresso machine no longer works, I have cleaned it, soaked it in vinegar. Any ideas?

Pleas do not soak this in vinager, try this process with vinager and most cost efficient way to fix this issue with HEAD SPRAYER HOLE clogging is to run vinager through the system several times. The compounds in the vinager serve as a cleaning agent to clean the heads naturally and allow the coffee to travel once again in the same holes it did when you first purchased the unit!!! Just fill up the pop with straight vinager and allow it to run through the system just as if it was coffee! This WILL NOT have any harmful affects to you or the coffee system unless you are allergic to vinager.

I have an older Breville home unit that isnt pumping at the same pressure it used to. Cant make steam either

You need to clean the coffee filters real good,as per manufacturer instructions,One of the best solutions, boil the coffee filter, without the handle. After boiling for about 5 minutes, clean the filter. Now place filter with handle in place( DO NOT USE ANY COFFEE GRINDS).Engage machine into espresso mode.Let it run about a minute. Also clean the upper filter(requires taking philip screw out).Good luck.

Steamer working only intermittendly

Hi
Have you tried to descale your machine. Remember to use the correct descaling powder and make sure that it is totally dissolved before running the descale program. In the menu, make sure that your water hardness is set on 4. descale more often than not enough.

A lake of water

anyone else w/ this problem: cheap workmanship = cheap, malfunctioning machine. turn it upside down, unscrew the 4 screws w/ metal washers and the six screws with out washers from the base of the housing. once removed, you can see that cheap metal clamps are used around the plastic hoses which supply water from resevoir to steamer & brewhead via the pump. either length of hose above pump or below pump has come loose or pump is fauly or there is a hole in a tube. good luck!

Does it come out water from the steamer?
if that is the case I would clean the filter on the machine.
