Question about Sony KDF-E50A10 50 in. LCD HDTV
Hey stacy, was wondering if you got your tv fixed? mine is doing the same thing with turning itself off. any info you have is appreciated, i too am lookin to cancelling the service tech as they want to charge 98$ just to come to my house.
Ya, The service tech came and said it was the Ballast (power to the lamp). We also had to have the lamp replaced because the ballast was ruining the lamp.
Cost - $80.00 for first visit with diagnoses, Ballast $120.00, Lamp $162.00 plus another $80.00 labor.
Now I plan to call him back because there are a lot of blue spots on the lower left part of the screen, and the picture is darker than before.
He showed me one spot before he left and said it was dust on the "LCD" inside the TV and that it would probably work itself out. He said we probably didn't see it before because the screen was too dark. BULLS***! It's darker now than it ever has been. The brightness is set as high as it can go with out distorting the picture quality.
