Question about HP Pavilion dv5000z Notebook

1 Answer

I have a HP Pavilion dv5000 and I am running windows vista home premium 32bit, upon booting I keep recieving a message which displays, SMART Failure on hard disk2. ST9120821AS-(S1). This message keeps popping up and I cannot get on the internet. Is my internet connection problem directly related to my hard disk problem? How do I fix this?

My Hp Pavilion dv5000 crashed! XP cd displays error message!

If you are facing this issue while installing Windows, Most probably there is an issue with the memory card. If you have two memory modules try to use one of the memory modules in each slot at a time. If you have only one memory stick then try to use it one by one on each slot. If you it does not work then probably you might have to replace the memory stick.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Is 1 gig of ram enough memory to support vista to run?

Hey there you want to use vista?? lol good luck. You need a min of 2 gigs ram to run vista but should ideally have 4 gigs for good operation. vista is a memory hog. You can change the configuration to use less but still need at least 2 gigs

KDS product 17s, model 700p. I am getting the follwing message "mode not supported H 82.8khz V77.7hz" whenever I boot the computer. I cannot escape from the message. The computer it is attached to is...

Start in SAFE mode (press F8 wile booting) and choose SAFE mode from the menu to see if it works in Windows DEFAULT setting. Then reboot and reset to 32Bit, and 78Hz max.

My guess is that MSoft pushed a patch or SP to your box and IT replaced the dll your monitor was using.

Good Luck!
Let me know if this fixes it

Booting is delay so much time

Try the following steps:

1. Tap "F8" key while computer is starting
2. Select "Safe Mode" from the startup options menu.
3. If the computer boots in safe mode, restart the computer and check if the problem still exists

This could happen if the BIOS update has created some changes which are not compatible with Windows Vista. Try updating the BIOS again.

Don't stay on

You might have a bad optical drive. One way to test this is to get an external usb drive, enter setup (bios) upon start up, and change the first boot device to usb device\exteranal drive, then use the exteranal drive. If it works, then you know you have a bad drive.

I/O error. HP 1720n won't boot

Run diagnostics on the hard drive (Normally provided either in the F8 or F12 boot menus) and se if you get a failure.

If the drive passes diagnostics, boot to the Vista DVD and run the repair option. (Note: you may have to the Vista repair process 4 or 5 times if there are multiple errors to be resolved)
