Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

I have a playstation 2 system that had a game in it, and was plugged into a surge protector. While the game was in the system the surge protector blew. Now when ever i put only that certain game that was in there in, a message comes up saying "insert playstation format disc" it won't read that game at all. But it will read other games. What should i do?

Make sure that the disc is clean and there aren't any fingerprints or visible scratches on it. The disc may have been damaged by the console's laser during the power surge, so look for any deformations in your disc or anything that looks irregular. If you find one and you can't wipe it off, then your disc may be damaged beyond repair.
As a last ditch effort, if you do find a scratch or gouge in your disc, you can try using a little bit of clear nail polish to fill in the scratch. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to replace the disc.

My stereo just quit on me there was bad weather but it was on one of those power surge cords it is a pioneer stereo fm-am digital synthesizer tuner

If it was plugged into a surge protector, check the surge protector warranty. There are A LOT of surge protectors that will cover damage to items plugged into them through their warranty system. I've had full home computers and TV's replaced by surge protector companies to avoid having a hit to homeowners insurance.

My playstation 3 turns itself off everytime i try 2 turn it on, how do i fix this?

That sounds like a bad power supply. Contact Sony to see about getting an RMA/ See if they have steps you can try other than the basic "Try another outlet, don't have it in a surge protector, etc"

Won't Turn On

Verify that its not plugged into a surge protector that is manually switched off. Then, verify the manual power switch on the back of the console is flipped to the "on" position. Try another power socket in another room.

PS3 won't come on at all! HELP!

Sounds like the electric shock short-circuited your PS3. Surge protectors are useful in that they reduce the energy of the power outage, but it isn't a 100% guarantee anything plugged into it will be protected. Sorry man, send it to Sony for repair.

Surge protector shuts off while playing PS3

swap to another surge protector. if it still does it, it is a power surge at the outlet, if it does not, the Surge Proctector has worn out. have someone with the appropriate knowlege have a look at the outlet as well. older outlets especially tend to wear to the point where the plug literally falls out of the wall.

My PS3 will not power up at all

HI. if this unit isn't powering up, it could be an issue with the power supply board. To confirm this diagnosis, i would unplug this unit from the surge protector for about 5 minutes. once the 5 minutes are up, plug the unit into a regular wall socket. If the unit doesn't power back up after being unplugged for 5 minutes, this will confirm the power supply failure. you can order another power supply board form the manufacture or, you can simply send the unit back to Sony for this repair as well. If this unit is not plugged into a surge protector, it may have received a surge of some sort.

Please rate and god bless:)

No power

UNplug console for a minute, and reconnect. Make sure switch in back is on. also make sure you don't have it locked up in a an entertainment center. Hopefully you had the PS3 plugged into a surge protector. If none of this works contact sony at 800-345-sony!!

Playstation 3

I would blame the bulb blowing, especially if they were on the same electrical system. One way you could stop this from happening again is to have anything electronic (your ps3) on a surge protector, then if you would have a power surge or anything like that, the surge protector would fry and the electronics hooked to it would be fine. Rather pay 12 bucks for a surge protector than a couple hundred for electronics :)
