The unit makes a loud noise that sounds like lighting hitting something. Could this be the fuse?

A fuse would not make a noise like that.... if it ever did, it would only do it once!
When you hear a snapping sound from inside a microwave when it is running, it is usually because there is metal inside the cooking area. Make sure there are no utensils, aluminum foil, etc. inside the oven! Also, never run a microwave empty with nothing in it, even for a short time.
If none of this applies, you need to have the oven looked at by a technician because it is probably a high voltage problem (always get an estimate first!).

No this is the magnetron do not plug the unit in or turn the unit on or you will be seeing alot more then pretty lights this has become a fire hazard and it would be up to you on replaceing the magnetron in your unit preferably consider the cost of the unit compared to the cost of the magnetron they usually run over 100.00 just for the piece if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick

Why does my GE Spacesaver Profile, Microwave/Convection Oven, model # JVM1490SD003, in my motorhome, make a clicking noise when I start it up? Sounds like a fan hitting something. The noise goes away

Probably is the fan tapping something. Power it down/DISCONNECT power. pull unit and if there is a cover, remove it. look for the convection fan and see if it free-spins. should find spot where it is hitting and could be adjusted.

Makes a really loud buzzing noise during operation

Unit uses a Magnetron and likely a power board called an inverter to run it. Someone would have to open the unit in a way where they might pinpoint where the sound is coming from and then take action--does not of course sound normal or good to me.

Microwave not heating

It most likely is either a issue with the inverter (power supply) or the Magnatron (main unit) in this oven.

It could be a thermal fuse inside but the noise sounds more like Inverter or Magnatron.

If not a cheap unit have a shop take a look and get an estimate.

Danby microwave does not heat food and makes loud constant noise

IF the noise is a sound coming from the oven area, its the megatron tube. Typically, replacing the megatron tube is more expensive than replacing wiht a new unit and a new warranty.

Not working plmv169dc

HI, the sound you herd was the noise filter and running diode. these important components have failed at this point. you will need to replace these components asap, if possible. this will fix your issue.

The Magnetron Cut-off fuse will need to be replace as well. this will blow if there is a malfunction within the unit.

Makes a loud buzzing noise and does not get hot

Have seen this many times.

Sounds like a bad CAP since a bad diode would blow the fuse and a bad mag would likely do the same thing.

Since yours is making the loud 60hz buzz you need to replace the capacator that will likely fix the problem. A $10 fix

Makes loud hum and faint smell when turned on

It sounds like your magnetron failing.

If a fuse were blown, it would be totally dead with no lights, no display, etc.

Keeping it out of the landfill a while longer by getting it fixed is always an option.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

Dead replaced fuse now makes loud noise

Yes that noise is causing your fuse to blow. Machine gun sound sounds like the High Voltage Capacitor or High voltage diode is bad. (Loud humming sound is usually a bad magnetron or bad power transformer). Most of these parts are inexpensive, except for the magnetron. But most of the repair bill is most likely going to be for labor.

Based on your model, it looks like an over the range microwave. And to fix any of these problems require the removal of the microwave from the wall. So its up to you if you want to deal with that hassle. But you also have to consider that you'll probably have a hard time trying to find a new microwave that will fit.

Mwave made loud buzzing noise then didn't heat up anymore

When there's a loud buzz like that, it does not heat, and does not blow the fuse, it is usually a defective magnetron. Did it sound something like someone making a "gurgling" sound into a coffee cup? I think this has a a one-year warranty, with n five-year warranty covering the magnetron.
