Sound from my plasma TV does not work on AVR 235 via optical cable

So much can go wrong. WARNING!! NEVER LOOK STRAIGHT INTO THE LIGHT FROM AN OPTICAL AUDIO OR VIDEO SYSTEM. The optical output could be not working (try switching it on and look if you see a red light) The optical cable can be broken inside) see if the brightness of the red light is almost the same as what is coming out of the TV. Point it to a white paper to view.
The optical input from your receiver can be defect or dirty. The optical protocol can be wrong or the systems are not compatible.
If it ever worked, the most chance is the cable is defect.
Otherwise follow the chain and read what the manuals have to say about how and what.

I cant get my energy sound bar to work on this sharp lc46sb54u tv,do i need to use digtal output cable? i have tryed rca cables,no luck.

You have to setup the sound to go to the aux out on the TV. Either digital, Optical or RCA in order for the TV to route the sound to the correct output port.

I have an rca surround sound system and how do I install of to my vizio

Your best option would be to connect all your components requiring video to be hooked directly to tv through HDMI in or component in. With a component hook up, you will have to provide audio with either digtal optical or composite cables. You then would want to provide sound to your surround sound by a digital optical out or composite out to the input of your surround sound.

E320VP LED HDTV just purchased. How to I hook up to a home theater system if it has no optical input jack? Thanks.

You should be looking for an optical output on the TV and an input on the home theater. if you mean the home theater has no optical input then you will have to resort to using RCA cables, they wont provide surround sound but most TV channels wont use surround anyway. They are the red and white sockets on the TV. If you need further help please respond with the brand and model of home theater system

I just bought a Panasonic plasma tv model TCP50S2 and I can't seem to get my Kenwood receiver to work with it. Do I need to set the remote to the Panasonic tc? If so does anyon know the code number? I...

I assume you want the TV sound through the receiver?
You need to connect the TV digital out to the receivers digtal in.
This is probably an optical connection.
Then you need to switch the receiver to the correct input. You may also need to tell the receiver what kind of connection is made: Optical or coaxial, if it doesn't detect this automaticly.

I own a Yamaha RX-v365 and i cant figure out how to connect my PS3 to the surround sound. For some reason the HDMI cables wont work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As above :
Connect PS3 via HDMI to DTV/IN, Connect HDMI from out to TV's HDMI/IN. Connect TV's Optical out to amps DTV/Optical in.

2X HDMI cables and one Optical are required.

I have the V363 but yours looks the same.

Enjoy great sound :)

OH: choose the DTV input then stereo and then dolby etc .. cheers

8' Optical Cable from TV to Receiver and Signal is Breaking Up

Before you buy anything try checking the AUDIO Settings in the Menu of Each Device (Mostly TV) and see if they are set to PCM or BITSTREAM. HDMI is mostly set to PCM while Optical is generally Bitstream. The TV may be set to the opposite of what it needs to be. I would try to get PCM to work first cause it is Better, If not then set what you can to Bitstream and it should pass. Also check in TV Menu for SOUND OUT or AUDIO OUT or SPEAKERS. Some TV's have a problem passing Audio through when they are already Outputting them to it's own Speakers! I Hope this Helps out!

Digtal

All sets are Digtal Ready they are telling you that if the only way you receive a signal is by antenna then tv will not work without a converter box, as long as you receive cable or satellite then your good to go!

No digtal audio with fiber optic jack

hook up a digital audio coaxial cable to it (not the old ones with the pin in the middle that always bends, the new one that looks like an rca cable except its orange instead of red/white/yellow). If it still doesnt play sound then your receiver is probably in analog mode. If it does play sound then its the fiber optic input.
