Question about Acer Computers & Internet

3 Answers

Greetings, i have a problem in my ACER ASPIRE netbook, where it suddenly started to work very slow and specially the sound where it is very slow and distorted for any media such as sound tracks and even for normal windows sound effects...for example the windows 'tik' start navigation sound it's like this 'tttttttttttttttttttkkkk'. also windows start up is very very slow, where it could take 10 minutes so i can start working properly on the netbook. do you think it is a hardware problem or some computer errors and that i should setup some kind of error dealing progarms such as tune-up utilities or something? there is something i'm not sure of in the fan of this netbook...i think it sounds a little high....but i'm not sure whether this is normal or not. other details: operating system: windows xp home service pack 3 processor: intel atom cpu N270 1.6 Ghz RAM: 0.98 GB

This is not normal. I recommend running a virus scan (Malwarebytes is an excellent free scanner) to make sure it's not a virus slowing things down. If after the virus scanner runs/cleans things are still slow, it might be worth it to look into a clean-up utility, but beware, there are many viruses/crapware out there that claim to be a clean-up utility, so it's best to buy a clean-up utility from a store in CD form.

Go to START>RUN and type cmd. When it opens type CHKDSK /R. Restart your computer and let it run. When it finishes restart the computer again. This may help you with your problem. Be patient it takes quite a while to complete.

If you don't have documents, pictures, etc on the hard drive that you need to backup, try running system recovery by doing the following (not sure if this works on the version with a solid state drive): WARNING: This will format your hard drive and return your netbook to the condition it was in from the manufacturer.
1. Turn on the computer
2. Press and hold Alt + F10
3. Click on Restore System to Factory Default
4. Ensure the netbook is plugged into AC power instead of running off the battery and click OK
