You should be using XLR to XLR cable, NOT a 1/4 inch cable. There is a problem of the 1/4 inch being the unbalanced version and is not compatible with this unit's input.

Use the XLR to XLR mic cable and it will work fine.

The cable you have would work for one of those cheap Karaoke machines...

Lexicon alpha and gxl2200 microphone

Are you trying to use the mic input on the back or plugging it into the instrument input on the front? If you use a low impedance mic with a quarter inch instrument input cord, you would need a transformer adapter to make the mic work on high impedance. Even if you put it on line in, you would still have to convert it. Only the XLR socket on the back will work on a low impedance mic.

PMP6000 mic level is low

Have you PFL'd the signal from the mic to see what level you're getting? You mentioned phantom on....are you actually using a condenser mic? What model mic is it? Are you using XLR or phone plug? EQ set flat? Do you have another mic/cable to try? Anything else plugged into the board has strong signal?

I just purchased a Takamine acoustic/electric EG 350 SC which sounds great until I plugged it into a Mackey sound board. I sounded like distortion was coming out. In other words, it sounded like ****. I...

I ASSUME that you plugged your guitar into a DI box that then used BALANCED XLR cable to the Mackie board??? The guitar generates line level and the Mackie board inputs are mostly mic level... you will get distortion if you overdrive the Mackie board. You could try going into line level jacks, HOWEVER if you go any distance balanced interconnects must be used. Even the line level jacks require using TRS balanced cables. Try is using a DI box, and preferably one with a gain switch. Also fiddle with the ground lift switch on it for least noise or hum. I use the LiveWire brand DI boxes and they seem to work fine. Then it is important to set the gain with the trim on the MAckie so you don't clip. Also be aware that an acoustic guitar can "hear" speakers and you can get feedback or regeneration that will sound like you are in a cave.

Low volume from Fishman Loudbox Mini mic input, using brand new XLR cable and dynamic mic. Mic works just fine on instrument input using a Hi-Z cable so problem is not mik

I have seen defective XLR cables so check it with an ohmmeter. It is possible the mic input preamp has been damaged. If that is the case, the unit will have to be repaired.

I have recently bought a Berhinger PMP4000, I set it up with an SM58 through mic input 1 but can get hardly any volume ? Please can you advise where I may be going wrong ? I am running the power amp with 2...

Things to check: You are using XLR mic cables... You have the speaker switch in the uppermost position A and B mains... the mute for that channel is off... For an SM58 the TRIM for that channel will be at about 3 o'clock to near full on, depending on vocalists voice strength... The CHANNEL fader will be at around -5 to 0 (75% up)... The MAIN fader will be around 50 to 80% depending on how big a room you are in. I assume the Peaveys are on separate channels IF they are 4 ohm speakers. The A and B outputs have a MINIMUM load of 4 ohms. With 4 ohm speakers you can get 400 Watts per side... about 250 Watts with 8 ohm speakers. DO NOT SET SPEAKERS to bridged mode... ALSO please read my tip on Fixya about a hazard of channel A polarity if you use 1/4 inch plugs on the ends at the speakers. The SLEEVE of channel A is the HOT, not the tip and grounding the sleeve can blow the channel A amp.

Soundcraft Gigrac 1000st distortion in the mic inputs. The rca line in is fine and clean. No effects on the mic pre sounds like its breaking up at any volume level. really dissapointing.

You should be using Dynamic mics such as a Shure SM58. They go into the first FOUR channels and if there is excessive gain and distortion, push in thee Pad button below the connector for those four channels. Inexpensive consumer microphones used with some Karaoke home systems are not suitable for this unit. You should be using XLR cables on the mics (balanced lines). The Pad buttons reduce the gain by a fixed amount of -20 Db for mics that have too much output to be controlled by the gain controls right above the connector. Ideally those should be no less than 12 o'cloock for good signala to noise ratio. Additional channels beyond the first four do not have as much gain and they do not have the -20 Db pad option.

I get little sound out of the microphone spots onm my DA-X10Pro. I have a karaoke THE SINGING MACHINE. When I use my karaokee machine mic plug in the mic works fine...but any voice into the mic...

The mics on the singing machine are very low end mics and MAY not work on your other unit. The Voco has very sensitvie inputs to use with "professional" type microphones. The Singing machine mics are going to be fairly high output and likely to overload the voco inputs. Procure some professional mics like Shure, AKG, Sennheiser or others and don't forget to use a balanced to unbalanced adapter or cable on the mics.

The music to sing along with apparently MUST come from a disk played on the unit. It appears that the external audio jacks are just to use the unit as either a boombox or to drive a larger sound system. You will have to convert your IPOD music into a Karaoke compatible CD to be able to sing along with it... They probably detect MIC input and mute any incoming signals from the RCA jack inputs,

This sounds bad... I suspect that a noise suppression cap on one side of the bad channel has shorted... possibly due to a static discharge.
Test for this doing this: Using a meter, with nothing plugged in and phantom on, check the voltage at both pins 2 and 3 to pin 1 of the XLR connectors. If you find either pin 2 or 3 is much lower than its mate (they both should be 15 volts to 48 volts positive), then one side noise filter cap probably has shorted. Unless you are electronically adept at repair, take it in for servicing.

Brand new mixer pmp3000 and two brand new speakers (passive) new cables.. plugged in mic , signal is shown but no sound out of the speakers. why????

Make sure the slider switch is set to the correct mode.

The TRIM controls must be advanced while the sliders are at 70%.

A common problem is to MISTAKENLY plug 1/3 inch input cable into the Effects Insert jacks instead of the inout IF you use 1.4 instead of XLR inout.

Make sure the channels of interest are NOT muted!
