Question about DISH Network ViP622 DVR DTV Receiver / 180-Hours Video Recorder

1 Answer

I have a dish vip 622. It overheated and now tuner 2 doesn't work. When I plug in the satellite cable into the tuner 2 port, the unit goes to the searching for signal screen. The unit works fine on tuner 1. I just can't record and watch something else at the same time, or watch tuner 2 in the other room. Is it at all possible to repair the tuner 2 input? How hard is it?

Same thing happened to my Dish DVR. Call Dish and explain your problem, and they'll send you a new unit.

Is there a cord that connects my tv to my dish box? It is a VIP 211k.

Ethan Lensch,

I can definitely provide more assistance with this. The TV doesn't connect to the dish itself. The cable from the dish goes into a switch, then from the switch it runs in to your receiver.

On the back of the receiver is a "SAT IN" slot. Verify the cable plugged in there is hand tight, and follow it back making sure any other connections you see are tight. If the signal doesn't return, unplug the receiver for 10 seconds and plug it back in.

If the signal is still out when it powers back on, run a check switch test. This is done by going to Menu > System Setup > Installation > Point Dish > Check Switch > Test. When it is done it will either go back to the Check Switch screen, or give you a message. If it takes you back to the screen, exit out and see if signal returned.

If the signal still isn't returning, or you get a message saying "Fewer satellites dectected", let me know here or by email at thomas.faust@dish.com and I can look into getting a tech out to fix this!

Dish network 222

Sounds like power supply problems, mak sure plug goes directly on a good tight wall scocet for full 120 volts and enought amperage to run your unit, to many devices may drain your power.

I have vip 622 when ipress mode it tell me this feather not supported

imadhamzi

When you get that message, the features are not supported, are you trying to pause, fast forward, rewind, or possibly record? Normally unplugging the receiver from your electrical outlet for about 10 seconds and plugging back in will take care of this problem. This will reboot the receiver and re-acquire satellite signal. If this does not resolve the issue, we may need to replace the receiver. I hope this helps.

Dish vip 622 and vip 722k frequent picture freeze and restart

Sounds like a signal strength issue. You may have either a low signal or something like a tree limb is blowing into the signal path dropping the signal strength to a point low enough to causes issues.

Satellite Receiver to Yamaha Receiver

It sounds like either on the 612 or the Yamaha Receiver that the HDMI port is faulty, thus causing the flashing picture. It sounds like the 612 to the TV works fine. I would recommend replacing the Yamaha, and if problem persists then try replacing the 612.

If I don't have a cable or satellite television service how to install a VIP 622 DVR HD Antenna

Mount the dish on a pole or house using a mast perfectly plumb. Ensure it will give you an unobstructed view of the sky based on the information that should have come with the dish regarding your zip code for skew, elevation and azimuth settings. You will now need to run one line from the LNB on the end of the skew arm to your 622. Remember to use a seperater inside or you will need to run another line into the back of the receiver. Run a hardwire off back of the receiver's home distribution port to . Connect a line from 3-4 on back of the receiver to your TV 1. ....More to come if needed drop me another line.

Thanks for using Fix Ya.

this problem occurs when the ground on the Dish is not properly connected. What is happening is the cables from the dish are backfeeding voltage and grounding out your rec. Now there could be a possiblity that it could be the rec. however if it stays powered on with the sat in cables discon. then it defintley sounds like a grounding issue.

Connecting a Dish 622 Receiver to the HTR500 and a Sony HDTV TV

I haven't researched to actual manuals for your equipment, but I'm guessing that the optical may be disabled when the HDMI is used. You could try using the component video outputs to the TV and then the optical to the Onkyo.
