You have a fatal error as you know. You must fix the error before windows will work. Download a program called Blue Screen view. It can be downloaded from here:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/bluescreenview_setup.exe
This program will identify the problem so you can get more help.

Hope this information will help.

Your response is very much appreciated. Thank you for using Fixya...

Hi, i'm having problems with my pc. ive got it out of asking me the system password and when it starts it says a problem has been detected... on a blue screen. how can i get rid of this???

That is the BSOD - it appears when the system has encountered a fatal error and has crashed.
I think it's time to reinstall Windows, it will be a lot quicker and easier than trying to fix the origin of the BSOD.

Just because you get a BSOD message does not mean you have a virus. Granted if you have a virus this can cause problems with your system files which cause a BSOD.

The easiest way to clean your system would be to go to this link and run a scan on your computer.

However this still may not fix the BSOD issue. If you keep getting it please reply with the error message that is in the BSOD. The link below will show you what is needed if you are not sure. With the error message and stop code i can tell you where the problem is.

Try installing ubuntu to at least get you up and running so at least you can surf the web and check your emails etc. Then either try a windows repair disc or see if trinity restore has an options to fix your os.

Try booting into safe mode.
If you can, I suggest getting rid of Norton. The drivers are not compatable with vista.
Vista has a ton of issues and many types of softwhere will not run or work.
If you want a good virus software, use the new software from Microsoft.

A8N32 BSOD PROBLEM

I had a similar problem with this board after putting in a new sata drive I got Bsod as windows xp started loading.
There is some kind of conflict with SP3, Sata and usb.

The solution for me was to boot while having a 4GB usb drive pugged in. It starts up fine now. If I remove the usb drive it bsod´s again.
