It is probably something much more simple than that...Turn it on and stand back until it finally ignites, then look, using a mirror, at the burner tray from below. You will probably find a lot of the tubes, especially those near the pilot area, are not working or are burning bright orange. If that is the case, something, probably spiders, are blocking the gas from getting into the tubes. That will cause the big burst at ignition as the gas builds up for a bit before it finally reaches the pilot area.

this usually indicates a high limit condition.you must first ascertain if you have a component failure or a true high tempature condition.your model has 2 limit controls and they are both located in side panel on water in/out header

Don, I suspect the error message is the cause of your problems. A flow error is either real (low flow) or not (bad flow switch). Either way, you get the error code displayed. Always take the filter out of the equation first to make sure it's just not a dirty filter causing the issue. A sand filter can be placed in the "bypass" position or a filter cartridge could be removed. Restart the pump and see if the error code goes away. If it does, clogged filter, real flow problem. Clean / replace the filter. If it does not go away, locate the pressure switch, pull off the two leads and jump them together. If the code goes away, false problem, bad switch. Replace it. Rob

You will need to pull the burner tray out and clean and blow out the burners. Then you will need to pull the orfaces from the gas manifold and clean each one and blow out the gas line. Then with a mirror you will need to check the fire brick inside the burner box. Then you will need to replace anything that is damaged. Good luck.

Testimonial: "thanks for the insight. I assume that I will have to disconnect the gas line and then reconnect afterward. Appreciate your information."
