Question about Samson C01U - USB Studio Condenser Microphone Consumer Microphone

1 Answer

Stereo Playback Sure, when I put the C01U into mono on my program, it does playback through both speakers, but when I convert the whole song into an mp3, it goes back out one speaker. Anyway to change this?

Your microphone has a stereo miniplug, with 3 contacts, that look exactly like headphone minijacks. You have not stated where you are trying to plug this microphone, but most computers /sound cards will accept only mono minijacks, with 2 contacts. Should you have left/ right inputs for microphones, buy a splitter adapter that will turn the stereo jack of the microphone into two mono jacks.

When I record and listen to playback, I only hear the left side.

This is normal for recording. Even professionals do the same. What you need is to set your input to mono(either hardware or software), or explore your software look for effects like STEREO to MONO with some delay which I prefer for my recording. I did have a good result. Good Luck

Cant get any sound from mic!!!!

Go into Play control on your computer. Click on options then properties. Look at your settings for playback and recording. Check play control and your source eg. microphone. To reach this double click on the speaker icon in your toolbar or you can find it under sounds and devices in your control panel.

After i record my voice with the microphone, it comes out 1 side

The Samson C01U records in mono, not stereo. This is why you hear sound coming only out of one (the left) channel.

Samson co1u recording issue

you first 3 people are idiots... maybe if you had worked with the hardware you would know how the mic works because its obvious you don't. The 4th person is correct because this is exactly how i use the mic and it captures sound in stereo format beautiful when set up rite. Using it in mono, whether use keep on one channel or two drastically reduces the crisp sound that this mic can record.

Set-up wireless karaoke Mic.

I can't seem to find any technical details on the output specifications of the karaoke mic, but IF it outputs in consumer standard RCA format (a cable with two ends, one red and one white - often seen with a third yellow cable for video), then you should be able to plug it into the back of the receiver without trouble. Simply choose one of the audio connectors in the back to function as your microphone playback system - I suggest the DBS connector, unless you have a satellite system already plugged in.

Connect the Red RCA cable to the RIGHT channel port on your receiver and the White RCA cable to the LEFT channel (Red = Right). Now, select the DBS (or whatever port you plugged it into) using your receiver remote control. Hit the "ANALOG/DIGITAL" button on the remote until "ANALOG" mode is displayed.

If you want to connect the mics to a Karaoke system using the same receiver, simply unplug the White RCA cable from the Microphones, and plug in the White RCA cable from your karaoke device. Now, you'll get music playing from one side of the speakers, and mic playback from the other side, simulating the karaoke experience.

NOTE: If the microphones do not have a RCA plug on the back, please post a picture of the reverse of the Microphone receiver, and I will see what I can do to help you further.

Playback only on left speaker

The quick, easy solution is to change your microphone to mono recording. In the attached YouTube clip, I'll show you how to do that.

The short and simple is to go to your Mac HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup. Select your C01U USB device, and set it to 1ch 16bit. This will set the microphone to record in mono, equally over both speakers.
