I just double checked the equipment used in that year Corvette, sorry, they didn't use the model radio or CD changer you have listed. The used the Delco-Bose systems for both version that were available that year for that vehicle. The closest listing I can find with that model number is a Sony system which would have been an after market model that was installed. It appears you have the factory AM/FM Cassette with an after market Multi CD changer installed. From what you are saying there is a problem with the CD unit not the remote.
The changer most likely is not going to be something you can fix. I know Chevrolet did not use the stereo you identified in that vehicle and if that is over 5 years old, as I suspect it is, it is due to be changed and has lasted longer than it's expected life expectancy already. I wish I could give you some good news but unless you have an oscilloscope, about $900, and experience in doing cd repairs with miniaturized circuits it would not be a good idea to open that up, too much can go wrong. Most likely the problem is going to be a bad chip or short transistor in one of the boards in that CD changer unit giving you the problems but without opening it up and testing every one in that circuit it will be very difficult to locate even on a good day.
