Make sure you've adjusted the Mix knob correctly. The Mix knob is above the Output knob. Turning it counter-clockwise allows you to hear more of your input and turning it clockwise lets you hear more of your playback. Try adjusting the knob clockwise to get more of your playback feed.

I can only hear static through the headphones on my Fostex MR16. The recording sounds fine when I transfer to computer, but I can't hear myself playing.

They make headphone amps that will take a line level and boost it in volume until it can drive headphones. I'd get one of those, and plug it into any available "line out" or "rec out" on the back of your Fostex. Sounds like the D/A converter section that feeds the headphone output has gone bad, and my solution will get you around that.

This could be due to the output volume and monitor mix are turned too low. You can fix this by adjusting the input gain levels in the ASIO settings menu.

I got a blue snowball microphone and had 2 problems. On XP, I can get it recognized and record stuff (I use Acid Pro) but while I am recording (with headphones) I dont hear anything in the head phones....

Thanks for purchasing the Snowball! The problem doesn't look directly related to the mic (as it's purely USB) and monitoring is dependent on the capabilities of the recording software being used. For direct monitoring, we recommend GarageBand and Audacity.

Trying To Hear Audio Through Headphones While Recording.

There are a lot of people having the same problem with Vista. Check this link for some ideas. I think there is a new on Microsoft update that addresses this issue under audio drivers that gives you more controls in the playback devices tab. Here is the first link:http://forums.techarena.in/vista-hardware-devices/865259.htm Here is another:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistamedia/thread/217c4402-6668-4592-bd5e-9234247c788f and finally the one that was easiest to understand:http://www.roemersoftware.com/vista-recording-problem.html My son has the same problem with his Compaq laptop and I am truly glad I stuck with XP. Please let me know how you make out.

Can't hear MIC through HEADPHONES in real time

Hi
i hope that you have the audio drivers installed and working and of course tested with your headphone..best way to do this is to play any song in media player and monitor it on your headphone...
the default settings for most DAW( Digital Audio Workstations) including ACID will be to mute the audio output when recording. This primarily is done to avoid feedbacks during recording. Anyways coming to the point. Since people would like to hear whats been recorded there is a scheme called as direct monitoring. I believe in ACID it is called as "Input Monitoring" and it basically is a small speaker shaped icon that appears next to the Record Arm Button once it is armed. Click on Input Monitoring and make sure its turned ON. Now you can listen while u record.
Hope this helps...contact me if u need further help

No sound in playback (but can hear click track)

This might seem simple, but just to check: you have switched off the monitor on the track when you go to playback? With track monitor engaged, you will not hear playback, but will continue to hear the live monitor.

Phillips cdr 950 audio cd recorder

Hi Averil

Get yourself a copy of the manual directly from the Philips website (look on the left of the screen for all the relevant links)

Your CD recorder has a 2 pairs of phono (rca) sockets on the back.

Connect your keyboard's output (line out ideally or headphones if there isn't a line-out) to the inputs on the back of your CD recorder. And connect the outputs from the CD recorder to your amplifier. If you don't have an amp, you can plug headphones into the CD recorder so you can hear what you're playing.

Good luck! Let me know how you get on with it.

No Real Time Sound from USB Port in Headphones

The problem is due to the design of the DELL Laptop itself. It is not dsigned to monitor the incoming signal. I bought a cheap Behringer UCA202 USB-Audio Interface. It provides for real time monitoring the incoming sound. I can also hear the accompanying music while I play along with pre-existing tracks. It's not the highest quality but it was only 25$ so well worth the price.
