No the clip you are seeing is the one that holds the cartridge in place. Try soaking it down with wd_40 and slowly working it backand forth to get it to come free. There should be a small hole at the top of the clip. Yoy can insert a ice pick or scratch awl in it and tap on it to help free it up.Hope this helps you. Thanks.

Sorry I'm slow getting back to you. You can purchase a moen cartridge puller at most hardware srores. It has a small bolt that screws into handle screw hole and the nut that you tighten down to evenly put pressure on the cartridge. I would still recommend that you spray around tha cartridge before you try to remove it. Once you get the tool properly mounted on the stem try to get it to rotate a little back and forth before you try removal. If it is to badly stuck you may still end up pulling the insides out of the cartridge. If this happens one other thing you can try before replacing the valve is to get a 3/8 inch pipe tap and carefully thread it into the outer casing of the cartridge. Be careful to get it started straight. Then thred it down using a adjustable wrench or open end wrench until it bottoms out. When it hits bottom apply pressure till casing breaks free. Good luck. Remember to use pipe tap not s.a.e. tap. Thank you

Took apart Moen tub faucet to replace cartridge and could not remove old cartridge- how do you remove. It is a single handle faucet and I tried to pull straight out but something catches and prevents it...

hi, there is a lock nut that holds the cartridge in this will need to be unscrewed, if you have already done that it should only be a matter of pulling it straight out, sometimes the cartridge gets seized in the body of the tap use mutli grips or pliers to pull it out by the shaft that the handle goes on

The faucet drips and I cant figure out how to make it quit.

It can be repaired without taking entire valve out of wall. First shut water off and remove handle. Next you will see a collar that will screw off to remove the cartridge below is a link for a single handle moen faucet. Check it out to get an idea. If you know your model you can research on line ,but they are close enough to give you an idea.
Once appart replace washers or o -ring's. Pay attention to how you take it appart for easy reinstallation.

I have a moen 1 knob push-pull faucet for my tub/shower. When I push it in sometimes water continues to drip. It is probably 30 years old. Are their replacement parts for it?

The old MOEN single handle faucets like youve described usualy took a 1200 or 1225 cartridge. Both are available at most of your big home improvement stores. The answer to your question is yes MOEN parts are still avail. Hope this helps. If this advise is helpful, please give me a vote.

Replacing Moen O kitchen faucet O ring

if it is dripping from the spout then there is a cartridge that needs replaced...1225 for the single handle type and 1224 for the 2 handle type. Moen does not use O-rings in their valves. If it leaking around the base of the spout there is an oring kit that you will need and you will have to pull the spout off to access them. Most Moen faucets use a 117 kit for the spout but there are some different ones.

You can try to rotate the first plastic ring to the left of center a few teeth, this will let the handle advance alittle more to the hot side.

A stem is a cartridge in a real old valve. You have pulled retainer clip, you can try to pull it out with pliers, but you might need a moen cartrigde puller.

Repair cartridge in Moen Monticello single handle lavatory faucet

After some additional experimenting, contrary to information I was previously able to gather, I discovered that the white plastic retainer doesn't (in this type of Moen faucet) actually screw off but rather is held in place by a spring clip inserted from the rear of the retainer (toward the wall side of the basing). Simply sticking a small screwdriver in the opening (approx. 45 degrees downward) and tipping the screwdriver toward the front of the faucet, snaps the spring clip out through the opening.
The plastic retainer than lifts off. Note: the flat sides on the retainer suggest that a wrench will be needed but such is not the case.
