Google search suggests it's a 10m HAM radio.  CB radio is on a different frequency (around 11m)

You might take a look at this page which looks like it is talking about how to convert this radio to CB.

(Disclaimer: note that it's illegal to run more than 4W on CB channels in the US)

Hope this helps

I work on all kinds of radios and have several of these. Plus i am a driver also...listen carefully. (1) take the 5 screws out of the top cover (2) take the cover off (3) locate 4 or 5 resistors in the front left side/ they will be all soldered to the same place on one end.(4) with a finger nail clippers cut all of them on both ends and remove them from the radio! (5) take a peice or two of electrical tape and put over the area were the resistors were removed. (6) reinistall the top and turn the radio to (bandC). Plug in the power and mic tune to channel 19 and get a radio check. These radios are a 10 meter radio out of the box..removing these resistors voids the warranty but it enables you to receive and transmitt on 11 meters. Wich is regular cb band....good luck!

These radios have to be converted to regular CB. There is a chip inside of the CB radio that has to be pulled out.

These radios require modification to run "cb" activity. Not expensive. Any decent radio shop can modify and tune. The DX 33's are great radios when set properly. I run a DX 33hp2 in my truck.

It is a gloryfied C.B. The radios are sold as (10 meter ham radios) "but" they are only done so they can be leagally imported in to the US. They requre a simple "MOD" which they are designed to have done "easily" to get the on 11 meters ie C.B. band. No ham radio comes with features like echo, talkback, or roger-beep! And many 33's do not have ssb only Am which is not used on the ham bands at all... only SSB and occasionally Fm. End result, you have a high output decked out C.B. radio with extras that is useless for most ham operations that they are "wink, wink, marketed as...

Will a cobra power mic cure the low mod on my cobra 19 dx iv eu or will it blow the front of the rig

that is simply bs, Ham radio shops rarely like CB people (I am a long time cber and also a ham.

On that radio there are two things you can do, look for the mod limiter and remove it or another more simple thing:
This radio comes with a 1000 ohm element in the mic--like speakers---Get a older or new 500 ohm microphone and wire it or have it wired for the 19 dx, it will make a big difference in how it sounds.

I not only worked on those radios but sold them in a shop I owned.

You might find a used mic that's 500 ohm, it is usually stamped into the back case of a mic.

Can you tell me if a galaxy 33hml is a good radio it has been converted to cb channels and is priced for 100.00 but needs the lights fixed and i don't really want to buy a radio that is out dated or isn't...

If I were to spend the money I would not buy used such as this. Would recommend buying new with money back guarantee. Radio Shack would be a good place to check out some prices.

Hey guys i have a galaxy 44v, i had two radio checks, on guy said it sounded like i had a pin on my nose and one said i was a little distorted, so what is going on the radio, is dead keying 0.5 watt and...

That radio is clipped and producing as much audio it can and in the process it is also a big splatter box. If you produce 4 watt of carrier and swing 6-7 it will be kinder one everyone ears around you.In other words make sure tr 32 is intact, r49 is not clipped and the amc is not turned wide open.should be marked am mod.I am a Ham Radio Operator that has 15 years of motorola experience. • Yes, the PCB band selector board. That's exactly what's wrong. You can replace this yourself. The board is held on the side of the radio with one little screw and has 3 or 4 connectors that plug into it. Maycomm is where I get my new Galaxy parts from
