Question about Nikon COOLPIX S230 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I plug the camera into my Dell computer using the USB. After a couple minutes, an option comes up asking how I would like to get the pictures on the computer. I select the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, which uploads all my pictures except the video I need to get on the computer for a school project. How do I get this video on?

1. You plug the camera into Dell using USB, 2. Ignore the pop-up option. 3. Open My computer by Double click on the My Computer Icon on desktop 4. Find the Icon "Camera" normally with the name Nikon Coolpix S230. Double Click it 5. Open the Folders on the camera. Video files should be in one of those Folders. 6. Copy the needed files to and where you like, should be in the same folder of your project.

How do i download photos to my computer from my photo chip

Jim Jordan's answer is accurate. I would add that when you plug the cable from your camera to the computer, you need to turn both of them ON. Then wait a couple of minutes. Your computer should recognize the plug-in. It may ask if you want the disc scanned for problems. It doesn't take long to scan. Then you may have a window pop up. If there is a file, click on it and your pictures should appear. Don't edit them in the camera. Select all, then drag to a new folder on your desktop. From there, edit the pictures using whatever you like. When you are sure they are the way you want, save them. Then go back to the camera folder. Select all the pictures, then delete, to empty your camera. By waiting to delete, you have a backup, in case something bad happens when you try to edit. You can always load them again. When you are sure your pictures are ok and saved to computer, it is safe to empty the camera. Good luck.

How do i download pictures from a verizon lg cellphone

There are a number of ways to do it. 1) you can use a cable that plugs into the camera and the other end of the cable plugs into the usb port of the computer. Most camera's come with this cable, if not it's a pretty common cable to purchase for less than $10.00. Once you plug it into both the camera and the computer, turn the camera on and the computer will recognize the usb camera device. You'll have to navigate to where your pictures are but that should be easy just open the folders until you find them. 2) you can buy a usb card reader than handles different types of cards. Remove the card from the camera and place it in the card reader device. Once again your computer will recognize the usb card reader and you can navigate thru the folders to find your pictures. 3) You can email them to yourself then go to the computer and open your emails and save the pictures.

I took a picture without the memory card and the photos got stored on the camera. how do i print these for a coolpix p100?

A couple options:

1) Connect your camera USB connection to your computer/laptop and copy the required photos to your hard disk or other external storage device.

2) Alternatively, plug in a SD card in your camera and transfer the photos from your camera internal memory to your external 'plug-in' SD card via the camera menu option: if required, refer to your camera user manual on how to use this copy function.

Hope it helps.

Is it necessary install Fuji program to copy pictures from Finepix S1500 to computer? With other cameras I do it with SO features (Windows).

If you have a USB cable for your camera, then no. Plug the USB into the camera, then into the computer and then turn the camera on. The computer should recognize the camera and ask how you want to download the pictures. You can use the Windows download wizard.

That's how I do it on my FinePix.

Another alternative is if you have a card reader in your computer, just take the SD card out of your camera and insert it into the card reader. again you will get a window with options.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I dont know how to put the pictures on my computer! O_O

Ok, calm down a bit.

The cord usually has 2 parts on it, a small part (used to connect to the camera) and the larger part (used to connect to your computer).

What your looking for on your computer is called USB port, its rectangular.
On your camera they usually have a plastic plug over it, read your manual and look where the port is. Usually its on the side or bottom of the camera.

When all is found connect them and plug it in your computer. It should take a couple seconds to a few minutes for your computer to recognize it. Then go to My Computer > New Drive (example F: (Nikon) or something simular)

===========
SD/HC card

You will need a SD or SDHC card, this is usally inserted by the side. This card is much more efficent then the usb cable and is much faster to use. And you will need a card reader, usually they are built in your computers now, or you can buy one, usually cost range from 10-20usd. Like the usb it will take a couple seconds/minute but its quick pop in and out unlike the usb.

When I plug my camera into my computer it isn't doing anything.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Error message "power surge on hub" when attempting to upload from N C 5200

Hi, are you using a USB hub or attaching directly to the computer USB port?
  1. If you are using a USB hub, which is then connected to your computer ... you either need to
    1. Plug the camera directly in to the computer so that the computer supplies the USB with more power to the camera.
    2. If the USB hub has a power plug/adapter, use it so the USB hub gets more power to handle the task.
    3. Buy a different USB hub that has a power adapter so enough juice can be supplied to the tasks that USB is asking to do.
  2. Some USBs on the computer aren't giving enough power, you may have a bad USB port, try another one.
  3. Use a Card Reader, which is much faster to download pictures than from the camera.
Reason: some times, the USB task is asking for a lot more power than is being supplied through the current USB path. You have to either add power through an adapter or plug directly in to a power source (like the computer directly, or a reader that doesn't require as much power to operate it).

This should help, if so, please mark as FixYa!
